Hi not a MB owner yet but looking hard to find the 'one' for me.:bannana:

This is there where i need some help if you dont mind:

I'm looking for an 59/10 plate C350CDIor even a C250CDI with full leather and hopefully Sat-nav. insurance wise theres £50 differance so thats not a prob, But im pointing towards the 350 as i have read about the injector problems on the 250 and i'm unable to find out if this year of car would of had the problems fixed the 250 would have around 10-12K miles on it and the 350 around 20-24K. Is there anything i should look for in these cars?? good things and bad things and also what sort of mpg would i get around town and on a motorway (but sticking within the speed limit)

Thanks in advance

Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum!

Good luck with your purchase.

Have you tried a search on here for your query?

Hello! Welcome!

My neighbour has a C350 CDI, it's 2 years old and not had a problem with it at all. Other than his mrs bending it a few times...whoops!

Hi Paul, and welcome.

The new 4-pot twin turbo engines are very impressive for their mixture of performance and economy and, if your head is ruling the decision making process, the C250CDI is an excellent choice. However, the V6 is in a different league when it comes to refinement and the level of performance is a bigger step up in reality than the raw numbers suggest. You will pay for it with fuel higher fuel consumption though, and the heavier lump in the front makes it a little less nimble than the 4-pot cars too.

Unfortunately, there's no right answer to the "which one" question. If you're happy with the 250CDI then it will be cheaper to live with, but many think the V6's charms are worth the extra.

Welcome to the forum, I'm a C250 CDI owner and I'm fairly impressed with it :)

thanks but have driven both cars and the 350cdi i think is the one i want as the 250 was very noisy when you pushed up up the rev range,im just wondering how many mpg i would get on a run as im not a lead foot driver

You could have a look on fuelly.com to see what others get. Regarding the lead foot comment, although I have an E, I have to 'hover' my foot over the accelerator to get decent economy and that's quite hard because it's just more fun to use it occasionally. You literally only have to press it 1cm to make a significant difference. By contrast my dealer loaned me a B class petrol when mine was in dock and I couldn't get over how far you have to push the pedal on that to make it go anywhere - it was as if it was connected with an elastic band.

Fuel economy is a very personal thing with a lot of variables but I'll stick my neck out and suggest that on a long run you should get 45, but on average with short runs and round town etc., expect to average 35ish. You could get more, and you could get less but I'd also suggest there is no point to get a 350 and then spend your life having to nurse it gently to get high MPG.

Hello Paul
Welcome to the Forum :thumb:

Well I will be doing a 35mile trip to work and of that about 30miles are motorways. So I would expect it to drop round town. Low 40's on a run will do me fine I know the book quotes 47mpg, and that's where the 250 would be better but got to get better than next door just to keep up with the jones's so to speak but I do think the noise is better in the 350 and as people say you haven't got to push it

Hi Paul and welcome. Injector problems were sorted out well before I got my 250 so I can't really help you there but for what it's worth I'm enjoying mine.

Most of the injector issues should have been sorted by now through breakdowns and re-calls. I've had both as company cars.
The 250 is impressive for 4 cylinder and good on fuel, the 350 is smoother and when you put your foot down it just sees to never stop pulling. The sacrifice is the fuel economy.
Also if your looking at 59/10 plate there's a five speed auto in the 250 and the 7G auto box in the 350.

Many Thanks for all your feedback. I have been looking at 59/10 plates and some are euro 4 and some euro 5. I understand thats the emmisions but the euro 5 is listed as 52mpg under extra urban compaired to only 47mpg on the euro 4. I have also found out that there is 2 differant 7g auto boxes where they say the 6th and 7th gear ratios are futher apart. Would this be on a 59/10 plate?? Sorry to swear but was also looking at an Audi A5 coupe 3ltr but there only listed at mid 40mpg. Today on the way to work with my current car (mondeo ST TDCI) at 70mph i was averaging low 50's mpg. I know that with the auto, bigger engine, hevier car i will look mpg but would love to get 45mpg on the trip to work.

Hi Paul,welcome to the forum:thumb:

The 350 pulls like a train, but i think you would struggle to get the fuel economy your after:wallbash:

Hi paul, the 350cdi is a great car but as already suggested i think you would struggle to get 45 mpg on that sort of journey. I would suggest budgeting for high 30's when working out fuel costs. Good Luck in your search :thumb:

well missed the one i listed. Thats the 3rd one now but think still gonna stick with the 350 as love the sound of it. done a 400mile trip in me Modeo and it averaged 57MPG which i think is very good with a car heading for the 100,000mile marker

Well update now have the car on a 230mile run done 52MPG and my run to work (35miles) done 45MPG so well pleased:bannana::bannana::bannana:
