Newbe And soon to be a c350CDI owner

Paul, I stand corrected! 45mpg is pretty good at 70 mph well done. Get some pics up of your new car!

The 350 is a lovely car to drive, even with the much maligned (on here!) 7g gearbox. But I only achieved 41 mpg on motorway runs (at around 75 mph) and you need to drop to a consistent 50 mph to achieve 50 mpg.
Hope that helps...

I wished i had listened to your comments as after doing a 1000miles in it i'm having to sell it due to the fuel just goes up and down theres no two runs that return the same on doing around 160miles it worked out to 38mpg this was 90% motorway miles doing no more than 70mph the range of the tank goes from 700 down to 450 or lower in a 30mile run and still only doing between 60 and 70mph so waiting for the place o bought it from to see how much they will give me for it and how much i can get my old car back. Gonna be sadly missed :(

I got 50mpg on a run on the motorway today with the cruise control set to 70. Once I got into Wales on A roads it dropped though, mainly as I was enjoying the roads :)

If you are that concerned with fuel costs why did you buy a 3 litre car in the first place?

As just wanted something big and as i only poodle to work thought i would of got the 45mpg (got 52mpg) on a 220mile return after driving it back home.I do 90% motorway so was thinking would get mid 40's but it hasn't worked out so after only 2 weeks of having it it's time to say goodbye to it, I'm just waiting to see how much i'm gonna get for it as want my old car back

Agree! The 350 isn't built for economy...it's built for fun ;) Reason why I chose the C250, unfortunately I don't own a oil refinery....

ORDERED : C250 Saloon AMG Sport Plus Auto in Polar White with Harmon Kardon / Lighting Pack / Panoramic Sunroof

cant see the sense in selling a car just because its a few miles down on MPG...the loss on the sale will be into the hundreds and nearer to the grand mark.I have a c350 cdi and compared to my last car a BMW 525D(3.0litre v6) it is definetly more thirsty but it goes better and the gear box is perfection.Getting around 30mpg around town and on a gentle motorway run will achieve 45 mpg.The performance is well worth the lower MPG.Having had a 3 imprezas the Merc is only 1 sec slower 0 to 60 but beats it hands down on fuel and insurance

Welcome to you.

I'm guessing he's sold it by now - it was last September, but I agree with you on the financial loss by selling.
