Newbie COMAND and Postcodes

Hi All,

I collect my R320 SWB later today and after reading on here I'm a little confused. First of all its not a new R320 - its sept 2008 but it does have the hard disk Comand.

I've read on hear that you can't enter 7 digit postcodes - is that right?
Also I'd like to know what the latest map update is. The dealer tells me that the firmware is the "latest" but a map update for 2009/10 will cost me £289+VAT. I've decided to wait just in case MB release a 2011 version sometime soon. Is this likely?

Yes your HDD comand will support seven digit postcodes.

The current release of the navigation data is V4.1 but this is just about to be replaced so hold on.

£289 plus VAT that is a lot. There are cheaper places.

What I would do though if you are buying the car from the dealer is to say you have heard reports that the AUX volume is too low and rather than have to bring the car back at a later date can they please make sure the latest telematics update is applied to the comand? This fixes the low AUX volume and will mean that you can much more easily load the new maps when they are released. The telematics updates are free under warranty.
