Just thought I'd sign up on here as I'm looking at buying my first Merc and welcome any advice on what to look for and so on ...

I like the look of the E430 V8 Avantgarde and have seen a local one for sale on a T plate with 112,000 miles on the clock, FSH,....

So what do I need to know about these models ..??

Hi there Phil and welcome to the forum.You'll need to check for rust but if you find one without,it might be a winner

Welcome! There are lots of threads on here about the W210, mainly relating to rust.

In particular the wheel arches and front subframes. The 430 (M113 engine) is pretty much bullet proof, same basic engine as used in the E55.

They suffer with front suspension issues, spring perches, ball joints, anti-roll bar drop links etc.

Don't be put off by this, they are great cars

Whereabouts are you located in Sussex? I'm in St Leonards on Sea.

Just thought I'd say Hello once again ...

I had to put on hold the purchase of my first MB due to my dad passing away suddenly

But I'm now back on the look out for one and have now decided on either a E55 or S55 depending what i can find for the right sort of money ..

So whats everyone's opinions of these and which one should i go for over the other and why ..??
