SLK 200
Hi from sunny West Yorks. Brief intro. Due to my midlife crisis (part 2) and the whopping interest not achieved in our Isa's, I parted company with some cash last week to buy a 2008 SLK 200 Tiptronic for me and my good lady to use at the weekends. So far I am nicely impressed with the car, which is silver, my favourite colour, but the thing has twice sounded the alarm during the night, Thursday and at 2AM this morning while parked on my drive.
Is there anything I should know before my neighbours get a bit tetchy please?
PS. I have been driving for 36 years and still don't know how to fix cars !!

Welcome to the forum.
We like SLK's in this house too! Touching wood, not had any problem with the alarm.

Welcome from another SLK owner.

Welcome aboard.

And finally... back to the alarm problem...

Take the car into the dealer and let them sort it. Either the alarm is faulty or the ultrasonics might be too sensitive.
Sometimes low alarm battery voltage can trigger false alarms. Has the car been standing for a while before purchase?

Hi and thanks.
It would appear that I have managed to pin point the alarm activation after finding paw prints and cat fur on the boot early one morning !! Just how a cat sets it off I haven't yet worked out, but no repeat instances since.
Flango, the curry nights sound a great idea and I only live about 5 minutes away from Kashmiri Aroma, which I recently visited and found to be excellent.
The car is running great but I now have to sort out my lower back and lumbar support as the manually adjusted driver's seat doesn't give me the right support for my long standing back problem. No doubt, I will fettle it with an additional cushion, before being beaten.
