Newbie Help please - Mercedes C Class 220CDI Estate

Hi all, Im Wish... Popped over from www.BoXa.net for a little advice on a car for the other half.

Looking for a 05 or 55 plate Mercedes Class 220CDI Avantguarde SE Estate with the sport pack.

Is there anything to look out for? I see Mercedes Used Cars Direct have quite a few, are these cars reject cars that have been reworked ?
I dont really want a demo as it could have been used as a C/Car

And we all know the one car faster than a stolen car is a C/Car

Any advice would be great at this early stage of purchase,

Go the extra 1/2 mile and get a 270 cdi , you will get better MPG with it and it will be better to drive

Try and find one with Bi xenons...(not only looks cool but great vision) Sports pack looks the business. Depending on your budget you may even posisbly be able to factory order one to your spec as good deals going on at momement on the W203.

Check with Staelers and they may have one to yoru spec sitting in stock...

MB Direct are normally DC company cars or lease cars - As sson as DC company cars hit a certain mileage they are then sold via MB Direct...

Leather/twin leather would be nice too...

I bought my 54 reg C270 Avantgarde Estate from MB Direct, Birmingham, last April.
The car had been some sort of MB area managers car, and is pretty highly spec'd. It had only done 6000 miles in 5 mths (so I assume the user may have had access to other cars) and the car appeared, to all intents and purposes, to be brand new.

I'm very pleased with the deal I got, but MB Direct (at least Birmingham, and the people I dealt withthere) reminded me of a car supermarket. They're very keen to sell (which is refreshing compared to normal MB dealers) but they're busy places and they're looking to do lots of quick deals - they don't like to be messed around. I got my car waaay cheaper that the screen price, so don't do in too high with your initial offer. They seem to move the cars pretty quickly, so MB Direct won't be bothered if you don't buy, but the salesperson you're dealing with will be keen to make sure that he/she gets a sale.

Well Ive bought one this afternoon. A little older than i wanted. But everything else was right.
Its from a Bently dealer in Norwich, 04/04 Face Lift car 220CDI SE Avantgarde Sport
Metallic Black Black Leather Automatic, Cruise Control CD Changer, Electric Seats, Climate, 17" Sports 5 spoke.
Like i say a little older, but a lot less than the screen price of £19,995 so all in all a very good value car i think.

Went to pick it up today. And all i can say is WOW...... Shes better than I thought she would be.

The colour is Metallic Black but its infact got a blue tints too it ? She Drives really well too. Glad I made the move over, im very happy.

Bizzarely, isn't that called Green Black? Although I had a demo in that colour for a few days and it also never looked anything other than blue/black.

Most likely yes - I had Metalic Green/Black on one of my W203s and the colour was amazing as looked differnt from blue/black/purple/green depending on the angle and level of light...

Only downside was that all the dirt/sctarches and swirls marks showed like anything on the paintwork in the slightest bit of sunlight...

PS. Worse scenario was when I spent a good couple of hrs washing the car and got it looking really clean and then afterwards there was light rain. When I drove for less than 5 minuets up the road to my destination the whole side of the car (on both sides) was covered with dirt...

I only ever buy Black cars, so its nice to have something a little different, but still the same if you know what i mean

watch out for ultra low milage 05 , 55 plate cars, these are used as prestige group loan cars and managers own transport and can be abused. thay then go into merc stock.

A quick question about the Merc.

In the centre messgae centre you have had the choice of outside temp or digital speedo, Mines on the digital speedo but in KPH not MPH - how can i change it to MPH or if that cant be done how can i change it to outside temp.
Ive looked in the book but cant seem to find it

Spoke to the dealer today and they are going to have a look at changing the KPH to Outside temp on Friday.

On older c-class does't display kph on speedo the digital display shows kph instead of temp. Didn't think that dealer would change this. There has been a recent post regarding mods. Try a seach if the dealer won't accomodate.
