Hi all ,

I know you have probably seen a thousand of these threads but I have my own questions , I have read a lot of the the forum ect...

I'm new to merc and especially an AMG.

What I would like to know is ,

What's the difference between the 125 edition and the normal c63 ?

What comes as standard on the c63 ?

What options should I be looking for when buying a c63 and how do you tell what it's got ?

Tax,insurance, tires ect are what they are.

I spoke to a dealer today who was telling me to expect around 8mpg ? Surely this isn't correct unless driving it hard ?

I was hoping for around 250miles to a tank and that's what seems to be the norm on the form ? Well any were from 200miles +

I'm going to buy a decent warranty so I don't have to worrie about the repairs so much and have read the common issues so that's not a problem , they seem pretty bullet proof ?!

Any help advice and info would be Greatful !

Many thanks

The ML63, same engine likes a drink, average 14-17 and as low as 6.
It depends how and where you driving.

Thanks for that , i am guessing the tank size will be different in the ML.

Any one help me on this ?

You ask a lot of questions. Edition 125 is just an anniversary edition. No performance increases. Mpg, I'm seeing low 20's average about the same as my previous focus Rs. Tax is 600ish insurance could be anything depending on who you are. Reliability wise, they seem to be pretty decent. Head bolt issues on early cars need checking out. Just look for a nice spec facelift car with good history

- - just the same except I think all the options extras internally?

What comes as standard on the c63 ?
- - a crying wallet, tyres that say bye bye after 5000ish miles, HK audio, Audio 20 (prefacelift), 18" AMG wheels, £495 road tax per year

What options should I be looking for when buying a c63 and how do you tell what it's got ?
- - reverse can, logic 7 sound, 19" multispokes, PP or PPP pack, LSD

Tax,insurance, tires ect are what they are.

- - it's a 6.2 litre V8 so don't expect a lot

Surely this isn't correct unless driving it hard ?
- - be surprised!

- - not sure on that

- - I think warranty on a facelift is circa £1500 for 1 year

I don't even own one but am in the market, tried to answer the best I know with what research I've done ;)

Some spelling mistakes in there but I'm on the app and can't be bothered to break the giant paragraph it seems to make when you edit on the app

It's funny you should mention the focus rs I used to have 1 , so if it's similar of fuel that perfectly acceptable , I know some people say why buy if you worry about fuel , but it does play a part , if it did 5-6 mpg all the time it's a no no

But if 18-20 is around the norm that's what I'm used to , abviously if you pay to have a play same with the focus rs on the track mine used to see around 6mpg...

I will be looking for a 2013-2014 saloon I think.

How can you tell if it has the performance packs is there anything visual and what's included ?

It's fine thank you for the reply , I'm in no real rush to but just looking for the right car and spec.

Not even driven one yet...

To the guy above how does it compare to the focus rs ? Does the c63 have as much character ?

I know it's a totally different car and hard to compare.

Ecain61 on here I think is the best for this part

Prefacelift- Red calipers, carbon spoiler and the intake is a darker grey colour than the normal silver. Sometimes has an LSD fitted but that's not viewable, bhp hike from 451 to around 470?

Facelift (and late prefacelift) red calipers, similar power hike but LSD was an optional extra?

A more knowledgable member will be along to correct what I've put as I'm not entirely sure

Both of these packages are listed as P30 and P31 respectively, on the VIN readout if you put the VIN into a database checker, or ask the dealer if at Mb (or just ask them nicely if from elsewhere) for the 'Oasis report'

I personally wouldn't bother with a performance pack car. You can map a standard car and fit a quaife diff for around the 2k mark and on paper it will be a better handling, more powerful machine

If you're looking at a 2013 to 2014 I'd buy through a main dealer as it will. Come with the remaining manufacturers warranty or a years used approved. You can haggle for an add year like I did so have 2 years, no need to pay for any extra. Think Mercedes-Benz stated it would of been £575 to take it at time of purchase but as I said they threw it into the deal

125 was just exterior tweaks, any Google search will pull that up

19" wheels is a must in my book but it will ride better on 18's. Reverse camera is always handy. Not sure there were many options as they come very will spec'd from the factory. The pp and ppp is a mine field as it changed between PRE facelift and facelift as far as I'm aware. Unless it was the full kit that had the uprated engine internals from the sls I would not worry about it. The stock engine as mentioned can handle a map and fit the quaife diff and you'll have a better car imo.

500 plus for tax, I pay just over 560 a year FC, NCB 10 plus years and protected, made it cheaper buy 30 quid to add my misses on it. Fuel bill.......... Don't look at it, just fill it up and enjoy as you'll cry if not. Put it this way, I fill up at a quarter of a tank just as the fuel light comes on, tales around £63-£67 on average depending on if it's tesco or shell. Crazy bit for a month I logged the mileage I filled up on, now everyday driving in C, S+ and manual so mixed commuting and spirited driving and between fill ups I have seen 151 miles, 179 miles and 184 miles. So not great lol but you don't buy a car like this and worry about fuel costs.

Buy from a dealer, get the best example, lowest mileage with warranty and don't get hung up on details, buy and enjoy

None of us buy a C63 for MPG reasons, but to give you an idea, I'd say average of 18-20 wouldn't be too far wrong.

Mine with just normal driving around does something like that.
Stuck in traffic you're in low teens, but equally i've had it displaying single figures on many an occaision.
Tyres - its a killer on the rear tyres, but sure its only money.

I've had my C63 for a year now. Still think its great. Still cringe when I start it in the morning at around 7am(poor neighbours). But it still puts a smile on my face when you decide to go a bit quicker ;)

Thanks guys , the main reason for me looking at the sound track is the noise of the 6.2 , engines are just getting smaller and smaller these days and it's just goin g to go more Eco as years go buy so I want to enjoy a nice lumpy v8.

Thanks for all the info , I'll get hunting and see what I can find. I have been to see a few but these have been a bit rough. I'm sure if I hold out long enough I will find the right one for me.

thanks for that, i have read it a few times but doesnt give that much info. like some others have said. i am just going to try find a good example that i like and add the packs later. im going to speak to my local merc and see if they can keep an eye out for me, i find the dealers seem to shift the c63 on quite fast.

Have you opened all the individual links?

It's a very comprehensive buying guide.

ah no i didnt i just read the review part ?

ill have another look through. i think i have made my mind up now. the car seems to get good reviews and is quite bullet proof .:bannana:

8 mpg quoted by a salesman .

You'll rarely see that under "normal" driving conditions - double it and you're in the right area, with more on a longer run, however, the tank is small, so some planning is required to access the right fuel (98RON min) on those road trips.
