Newbie wanting some advice.

8 mpg quoted by a salesman .

You'll rarely see that under "normal" driving conditions - double it and you're in the right area, with more on a longer run, however, the tank is small, so some planning is required to access the right fuel (98RON min) on those road trips.

I think he was trying to be funny and put me off judging me because I look young. Then what I told him some of my car history he started to become interested then... But yeah it will do about 100mile round trip to work once a week , I work from home normally. Then the rest is fun fuel for me.

And like you say I could plan a nice stop if needed for the longer trips.

I enquired at mb about one recently after asking for the engine number regarding the head bolt failure, he said they were doing 2 years warranty with approved used. Not sure if this is across the board, but worth knowing anyway

Ah I didn't know that, in fact I didn't even know MB did their own finance, lol

Hi all ,

I know you have probably seen a thousand of these threads but I have my own questions , I have read a lot of the the forum ect...

I'm new to merc and especially an AMG.

What I would like to know is ,

What's the difference between the 125 edition and the normal c63 ?

What comes as standard on the c63 ?

What options should I be looking for when buying a c63 and how do you tell what it's got ?

Tax,insurance, tires ect are what they are.

I spoke to a dealer today who was telling me to expect around 8mpg ? Surely this isn't correct unless driving it hard ?

I was hoping for around 250miles to a tank and that's what seems to be the norm on the form ? Well any were from 200miles +

I'm going to buy a decent warranty so I don't have to worrie about the repairs so much and have read the common issues so that's not a problem , they seem pretty bullet proof ?!

Any help advice and info would be Greatful !

Many thanks

Having own my c63 for nearly 1 year now, here are my 2 cents

Edition 125 - difference is mainly the 2 tone leather and interior.
Standard C63 - usually has panaroof, aircon and command and sat nav.
Harman kardon is optional as is rear camera.

Things to look out for - mileage, service intervals, brakes, rear bumper condition & rear quarter panel condition around rear door arch(prone to stone chips).

Road Tax - £515
Insurance - depends on location
Tires usage variable. I use mine daily to work, with the occasional blast here and there. After 5500 miles, still has 4.5mm on rears. Using MPSS tyres.

MPG -variable too. Average 18mpg on counter. can be as low as 8mpg is u have a good blast. Motorway I manage at best 25mpg. On average about 200-240 miles per tank.

Besides head bolt issue, not much other issues with the M156 engine.

The main thing is, the noise of the V8 6.2l is intoxicating. Once popped, can't stop. Unless its rainy day and wet condition, just be a bit more careful.

But it is a once in a lifetime itch that needs scratching.

thanks , thats a good over view, it seems like its going to happen when i find the right one , at first i was worried that it might cost a small fortune to run but its not all that bad by the sounds of it

200 miles a tank is totally acceptable considering its such a big engine. i am also looking at an r8 v8 as a different option but i think so far the c63 is winning by far.

I wish standard C63's came with a Panaroof... lol

It's fine thank you for the reply , I'm in no real rush to but just looking for the right car and spec.

Not even driven one yet...

To the guy above how does it compare to the focus rs ? Does the c63 have as much character ?

I know it's a totally different car and hard to compare.

Came to mine after a Focus RS too, albeit a Mk1. Light and day comparison between the 2. I was really disappointed after the first test drive in my C63, it does everything so effortlessly it didn't seem that you needed to drive it! Second drive and sport + 20 minutes later and it was a different car, they are real Jekyll and Hyde cars. last week it done the shopping on Friday, cruised to Germany Saturday, Nurburgring in the afternoon and then autobahn Sunday, not many cars can do that the way the C63 does.
I've done 6000 miles now and averaged 21MPG.
I have 18s which I personally prefer and tyres are around £120 for conti 5's so not really worth worrying about.

Amazing cars.

I have read a lot of people saying the car drives better on the 18 inch tyres and the car turns in better and is smoother ?

Have you been in one with the 19's as a comparison ?

I haven't but have read the same, and there seem to be a lot of cracked 19s around. It is still firm on the road but some compliance too, just suits us and how we use the car, the cheaper tyre costs are just a bonus.

Yeah I suppose every little helps ,

I am liking the idea of some vossen's tho ....

I went from 19s on my last c63 to 18s on my newer facelift PP car. Definitely drives better on 18s...doesnt look as cool perhaps but does make brakes look even bigger! Ride much better and tyres cheaper....a bit less 'pimpy' too.

Agreed.

Rather than rehash the whole thing here, I wrote a blog on C63 Options when I bought my PPP Estate (on 18inch wheels) in 2013.

Cars: We All Fall in Love With Our Models: C63 AMG. More is Less? Options That Make or Ruin Your Car

Gave impressions of the car after a month or two:

Cars: We All Fall in Love With Our Models: C63 AMG: Second Impressions and Technology Blight

Compared it to the 507 update;

and then updated impressions after 1 year (inc actual running costs)

Cars: We All Fall in Love With Our Models: C63 AMG PPP: First Year Report

and 3 years on gave impressions again.

(and I still have it)

All totally non-commercial and just for fun.
