Nice white W124

How can people advertise cars without stating the mileage

The seller has done a sly one and listed his car in the 'car parts' category. This is why he wasn't asked to input the mileage I guess.

If this car sells at £2700 he will have to pay about £70 final value fee to ebay  as opposed to £20 if he listed in motors section. He has saved £4 on the listing fee though (£2 instead of £6). My guess is the seller will pull the auction before the end to avoid the fees.

I have to say it looks like a nice specimen on the outside, shame it hasn't got the leather interior and aircon, at least it has electric front and rear windows.

Also looking at prices lately, I think he will be lucky to get even one bid looking at the start price! But one never knows.

p.s. Personally I like white cars, the 123 looked real nice in white also.

Yeah, you gotta have the black leather if its white...... :)

So that's how it came from brand new is it?

Where did those wheels come from and what's with the chrome arches as mentioned by Howard? You can't tell me they're oem items.

Only thing that makes me nervous is that he says it is totally as new, and yet it has the dreaded 'rust-hiding' chrome arches and aftermarket wheels.....

Otherwise looks nice ....

It does look like a nice example of a 124.

I think the arches will be Ok as when 124 arches go it is always just in front of the arch due to there being no protection on the inside of the wing at that point, for some reason the protection stops short.

Some cars do stand out in white and can be quite nice.....B***H to keep clean though! I've had a couple of very nice white Mk 3 Toyota Supra Turbo's (white was the best colour in that car) and recently i've had an extremely nice white Subaru Impreza WRX STI. I sold these three within a week of advertising yet my W210 E240 in dark green took more then 6 months to sell!........Oh and did i mention i currently have an extremely nice W201 190E much better and original then the W124 on Ebay and yes it is in white (but admittedly not the best colour for that car!).

Not a fan of white cars.

Sorry but white Mercedes remind me of Taxis in Gran Canaria. From a holiday when I was 18. I think all the Taxis were white 124's. Ever since then I said to myself I could never own a white Mercedes. Anyone else have any memories that stand out like this? Or is it me?

I suppose that says they must be good cars if they are the taxi of choice. Before I get any stick for silver. I couldnt find one in another colour ok :D

I think that does look a good clean example though and think the chrome arches do actually compliment it. Bizzare as stated to list it in parts though. Probably will get pulled before the end and this is just for exposure.

Modern cars tend to look better in white than older cars because they have less unpainted grey/black plastic parts on them and they're less likely to have rusty bits.

Almost any car can look good in white if it's well presented and looked after.

Im not a particular fan of white on any car but to comment on the car putting all other things aside, it looks like a clean example to me and its always nice to see an older car looking in such a tidy well kept state. nice :)

All this jive about white cars makes me smile. :)

I'm a firm believer that car colours are merely a trend, and therefore an indication of an era a car was designed or purchased in. I think some W124s can look great in white, as that was an 'in' colour at the time. By the same token I saw a white W208 CLK the other day and that looked decidedly unusual.

Also, I challenge anyone to look at a Porsche 911 RS and say that it doesn't look good in white!

Andy (with a black car which transcends fashion...)

I tell you what else looks good in white (apart from Howard's car, which goes without saying): the BMW Z-Coupe.

That car clarifies what Chris Bangle is trying to do at BMW; he's trying to be Ugo Zagato. White really shows off the shut-line details, and the curves and shadows. Prolly one reason why it doesn't always work on other cars....

Howard's car has few shutlines, and no concave panels. The shutlines it does have are typical Mercedes - small!

Silverstarcars mentions his 190E is white. There are more creases and vents on that car (waistline; C-pillar) and to my mind, all the shadows don't do white paint any favours.

Porshce 911s can be lovely in white. Very sensitive to graphics colours, though....

Just my opinion.

I think the interior is a major turn off!! :o

Plus I personally do not like the chrome wheel arch thingies.

I agree and as I said white is not the 190E's best colour (although mine does look extremely good but that's more to do with the condition of it) but white can look good on certain cars, usually sport cars hence my 2 Mk3 Supra Turbos and Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo in white with gold wheels!
