Can't believe my E350 COUPE CDI 2013 cost new 47K ( not by me I add) has not got DAB !!! didn't think to check when I purchased the car, checked out everything else bar this , very disappointed, sadly I have become accustomed to stealers attitudes, he just shrugged his shoulders and said not worth having anyway . WAW

:fail

And like you I would have assumed in this day and age.

Ridiculous situation on a premium car. In the last couple of weeks I've hired an Insignia and Avensis and both had DAB with really simple touch screen control.

Richard and Alfie at command online can do it and I did look at it. I might get around to getting it installed but I just tend to Bluetooth stream an internet radio app from my phone at the moment.

To be honest you are not missing much, i have it and the reception is shocking!! Would have been gutted if i paid for it

I have DAB and I really can't see what the fuss is about. As Scott mentioned, reception is poor and choice of stations is limited.

It's funny as it does differ from car to car, our bmw has great reception and a choice of channels. No idea why it's so bad on the Merc.

I have just checked the spec sheet for the new e coupe and dab is not an option, is yours a face lift?

I replaced the head unit in mine to one with DAB - works fine and it's clear as a bell. In major cities you get a much bigger choice of station on FM, but out here in the sticks, it's DAB or nowt! :-D

The car is a joy to drive so just getting on with enjoying the car and stop making a fuss !!!

I've got dab and it's not very good at all. Get an ipod coupled up!

I have Mercedes DAB in my car and it works flawlessly.

I have also retrofitted it to many Mercedes vehicles and without doubt the best integration comes from the genuine solution rather than devices that cut in to the FM antenna or retransmit on the FM waveband.

We can now offer integrated Mercedes DAB for £999 in the W207, W212, W204, W218, W221, w216, W176, W246, W166

I had it in my E350 and around certain parts of the UK it would simply drop out. Even on the A11 as you approach the M11.
It was the same with my Pioneer dab unit in the ML, and all down to the aerial.
I bought a Kinetic roof one and the reception was then perfect, only place I have dropped out is the A road off the A74 as you cut up to Edinburgh, cut out for 30 seconds, maybe a minute.

I just don't think the rear window antennas work well.
I don't see why they don't put the dab antenna into the shark fin as they work so much stronger.
This is not a Merc thing, all the car marques tend to do the same.

I agree entirely on the antenna issues. We have found after much research with non MB units that antenna selection and crucially placement are absolutely critical to getting good DAB reception.

As I say though weve always found the genuine MB Dab to be very very good.
