Driving back from my folks today (150 miles) and I was unable to get the car above 2500revs.

No kickdown either. I also tried the 'manual' mode going through the gears.

After a quick search, it sounds like the MAS, anyone have any other thoughts? :( - I didnt even know diesels had MAS's...

Had that on my 210 and it was the Mas.

If the power comes back it could be a damaged wire going to the boost sensor near the EGR. Just had mine fixed on the ML270 by WG-MB.

A Star test could reveal all as im sure your aware.

Can also be the EGR and would have to agree that a STAR test is your best bet so as not to spend too much loot.

Thanks for all the replies!

Have you had a chance to look at the problem Karl?

No yet, been doing the important things like fit the final part of the facelift dash and also fit the facelift rear clusters ;)

Was it a simple swap of the connectors for the rear lights?

Nothing is ever simple in the land of mod!

You have to either saw off a section of chassis, or bend it backwards in order to fit the new facelift light circult. Managed to fit them in ok, trouble is they dont use all the same bulbs as the pre-facelift ones :wallbash: so I have 7 errors on dash until I get some new bulbs tomorrow (including Orange bulbs instead of the clear ones.

+I managed to smash a bulb as it rolled off the side of my tool kit

Looks great though already, knocked 5 years off it :)

Any pictures

Glad to hear you managed to find a way around the problems. I am doing a couple of mods at the moment....well trying to.

My ML did not come with the auto-dim mirror. I managed to find one and had to modify the cover around the bracket because mine has the rain sensor. Luckily, I could switch them :)

I am struggling with the trip computer though, I thought it would be plug and play.....turns out the connector is not present. So I need to find another ML with this and cross reference the wiring harness. I am not sure if I can run a cable into the wire harness, so I am contemplating purchasing the correct roof harness and then lowering the entire headliner and installing the new loom. I hope the ECU is programmed to send this data, it would be an expensive error. Failing the above, I may just fit the auto-dim and put the old overhead console back......any advice?

Garage have confirmed it is the MAS, its not outputting anything at all and is completely dead. New one on its way tomorrow :)

Cheers for the replies!

I missed this thread but the symptoms you describe are exactly what we had on our ML270 CDi last summer. Unfortunately I had to tow our twin axle caravan and 5 passengers 200+ miles to get home!!

MAS from MB parts counter was about £50-60 IIRC.

New MAS fitted and it pulls like a train :D :D :D
