No Power To Door Switches

Hello, for some unknown reason I have lost power to ALL the switches in the drivers door! All window switches, boot release and all seat control ones too! My drivers window doesn’t drop slightly when I open my door and neither does the rear one. ( CLK ) The rear window won’t work on its own switch either but there’s still power getting to it because if you leave the door open for a minute it drops slightly then goes back up. The only window to still work off it’s own switch is the passenger front one. All fuses appear to be ok, I removed them and put them back after checking them. I’m at a bit of a loss now!

Theres a door controller in the door - it has either died or the power to it (fuse) has failed. Fuse may be in a weird location so you may have missed it

If the door controller has died, you may be able to resurrect it by removing ground lead from battery for 5 mins and re-attaching. Only disconnect the ground, and make sure it is the correct one (i.e look on battery for the + terminal, don't assume anything about the colours of the leads)

To clarify this, look for the + terminal and then undo the ground terminal which is the other one !!

Well I tried the battery negative terminal….. nope. I then spoke to my old Mercedes specialist on the phone and he suggested to pull the door panel off and disconnect the power in plug on the door control module for 60 seconds.…. Nope. There’s definitely 12v going into the control unit because I put my multi meter on it but there’s nothing coming out. I disassembled it and there’s nothing obviously wrong on the PCB. I’ve now taken a gamble on a second hand unit off eBay!

There’s 12v at the plug that goes into the box but there’s no power getting to any of the 6/7 plug’s coming out.
Anyhow, I got a second hand controller off eBay for £80 and fitted it this afternoon. BINGO! Everything now works again. Result.

I've just posted on what looks to be very similar to the issue that you had, windows & boot release not working, only window working is front passenger side. I havent taken the door card off yet but I'm suspecting the door control module. Was it easy enough to get a hold of from Ebay ? any assistance greatly appreciated.........cheers

Make sure it has the EXACT same part number. There are a few on eBay but they ain’t cheap! The one I got second hand off there is working fine still.

Will do cheers, just looking for a video on how the door card comes off also drivers window is 3/4 down & as I can't move it Im wondering if this will hamper access to the module ?

The window won't interfere with getting access to the door controller as its behind it and against the outer door skin.

I've just got around to removing the door card & now have a part number for the door control module, Part no for control module is 209 820 22 26 (09) but I now have a red warning on the dash saying lower the rear roll bar / head restraints even though these were down. I rasied tham, couldnt lower from the switch so had to manually lower them but message still there, would this be connected to the windows not working ?

I wouldn’t have thought so. I didn’t get that on mine when it went wrong.

Thanks, I did order one but its not exactly the same number, I fitted it & all on with the exception the drivers window stopping 1/4 inch from top so probably need to order the exact part number, cheers

You can re program the windows. Manually take it all the way up and then keep the button pressed up for around 5 seconds. It should then go up on the one touch thingy to the right place. This may cure it. It may not though! Got to be worth a try.

Hi,

I've tried reteaching the windows but drivers still stops 1/4 inch shy. Noticed another problem which may be connected , when driving the car it RED erros for door open also auto seatbelt extender not coming out so my questions are 1) would having door card removed cause any of this 2) where is the door closed swich, I assume its just a plunger type switch on the door frame near the hinges 3) could this be due to fitting a slightly different door module 209 820 20 26 (01) instead of 209 820 22 26 (09) original part number ?

The door closed switch is at the trailing edge of the door on the B post.
