Ill admit that I haven't been under the car yet first. It's raining here in NZ at the moment so not ideal to crawl under the car.
The trans, I think, is making a funny whirring noise. The oil is clean and not smelly.
What's happening?
The noise happens when driving and there is no problems with selecting gears.
The noise goes away when moving from drive to 3rd, and, if retained in third for a while then moved back to top, stays away but then comes back.
When going over bumps the noise can be heard when it may have been quite.
It tends to be more noticeable when under load.
The transmission is a 722.3 I think. I index if maybe the issue is the centre bearing on the drive shaft? And help appreciated.
The estate has 295k Kim's on it, and other than some dents and rear window rust is in reasonable fettle.
Cheers Andrew.
