Had an issue with the RAC, they came out and told us it was the brake light switch, gear box esp/bas lights came on and wont start, so changed the switch, still wont start.
Says on the forum about 'resetting' but don't know how to, BUT I have also been told it could be the gearbox sensor??? Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Paul

ps it was also stuck in park and had to be released with the switch by the gear stick

You have separate issues.

The brake light switch could be causing your shift locking but isnt related to non starting.

It needs to be diagnosed properly...

As above it needs to be diagnosed properly. You could try to pop off the cover for k 40 relay to see if there are any blown fuses in there. The relay is located n/s under the hood. Almost beneath the screen.
This supplies power to the selector module, transmission ecu, starter etc etc
Worth having a quick look.

The K40 relay also has issues with cracked and burnt solder joints, you may want to open the relay up and have a look inside if you have a soldering iron handy :)

Thanks Guys
just had a mechanic look at it and he says it COULD be the gear box sensor, but didn't have the lead to read it, he is coming back Monday with the correct lead. Out of interest where would I buy a gear box sensor from? Cant find them on the web?

Many thanks

never guess or believe...?

Hi Guys
well sorted it out, it was oil in the gear box ecu
