May I have instructions to teach-in the rear handset to a V222. I'm talking about the device as in the attached photo.
A similar handset on a V221 connects via BT to the COMAND head unit and a simple bluetooth pairing is sufficient. This beast does not seem to find COMAND, neither does COMAND find the handset.
Looking at the function schematic, looks like the rear handset would be paired with the rear entertainment control unit. Can that be the only option, or the correct option at all, the error message at the handset points towards COMAND anyway (see the first photo).
Or should one teach-in the handset first with COMAND (or the rear entertainment control unit)? Looking at the Xentry diagnosis menus I can only find a teach-in menu from COMAND and the device list does not seem to cover the rear handset (although it is a remote controller too). I thought the list of teach-in devices covered headsets and the remote controllers that do not have any display.
By the way, there is an odd menu for pairing COMAND with a remote control device, the pairing process talks about a prerequisite that this devices needs to be WIFI connected first. I've never seen any remote control device for the W222 that works from WIFI, neither seem the manuals to cover that device.
Anyone retrofitted the rear telephone handset option (option codes 855 or 856) and willing to help a bit?
