I have just brought my personalised number plate, I want a street legal number plate. Any ideas on a decent company to get one made by?
Lots on line that promise to be "the best".

demon plates

Decent? They're just a piece of plastic mate and all made using the same equipment. eBay is your friend - £10 a pair incl p&p is not impossible to find.

I have just had some sets of acrylic 'bubble plates' made up with the Carbon Fibre lettering. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222130369349?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT I have gone with clean, blank plates and the correctly spaced letters and fonts. Happy with that.

I went back to the traditional (correct) MB 4 screw attachments - as opposed to sticky pads. Using stainless torx screws.

Tip: Drill the plates through, from the back with sharp drill bit. This avoids delamination when you drill the holes. Only use stainless screws. Looks nice and avoids rust runs down the nice clean plates.

I'm kind of with you on that one mate. A relatively cheap set off eBay will be much the same as anywhere.

I got some pressed plates from eBay for £20 delivered. Used sticky pads to attach and sent through the MOTs fine.

Much of a muchness from my experience OP. :)

Taylor Made Decals. I have always used for number plates. Stephen is fast, efficient and professional.

FWIW i always have aluminum plates they don't tend to suffer from delamination like plastic.

He can replicate any main dealer marking's as well and yes they are BS marked.

Do you have a link please: To be sure I get the correct person.

OEM ones are made by Best Plate Ltd

I`ve just had a pair of 16 inch ones made up by a seller on ebay (usual length is 20 inches) Road legal for 6 characters or less :thumb:

It got through the MOT , I thought the pressed metal ones were not road legal ?

Eh? The original equipment on a Benz (or nearly any other make) is ... no plate at all.

Who supplies the plates fitted by the dealer will depend on the dealer, surely.

Every dealer Ive seen (and ive been to alot) all use Bestplates plates.

Maybe, but I've had cheap plates delaminate quite quickly whereas the ones on my SL (dealer ones, whoever supplied them) still look like new after 13 years.

Must be an age thing.... or I'm old fashioned :dk:

Each to their own mate....if we all liked the same things, life would be boring :D
