Morning all,

Can anyone recommend a decent OBD 2 Scanner that is suitable for my W212 2011 and a Peugeot (wifes car). I have done some research on options and have been advised that a Euro spec would obviously be needed. Does anyone have any suggestions please ?

Price range would be a max of approx £500

Thanks

Chris

There's a guy on one of the Facebook pages that offers near dealer-level capability (just for Mercedes though) for around £400 when you factor in the cable. I'm tempted by that but I'm also looking at icarsoft and autel for multi-manufacturer capability. They have options between £200-400+

Hi Rob,

The iCar option was one i had been looking at and the Autel types too. I shall keep on doing the research i suppose and see what else is out there.

I have the icarsoft cr max. Been OK on the MB and a Nissan, but not so great on the Pug. Some of the service functions like injector coding and Eolys resest didn't work.
Live data sucks, update rate is too slow and the graphing function is woeful. Only option to export the data is a pdf of tabulated data, one record at a time.

I've been considering a Launch, but all the reviews show such tools reading the DTCs and not much else.

Thanks buddy, your advice may help swing me away from the icarsoft option then.

The best for MB is Xentry/DAS along with Tactrix Openport 2.0 (aliexpress). You need a laptop for this and its designated for MB ,SMART, Maybach. If You need something cheap id say delphi with D150E is ok for start.

I recently bought the ICarsoft CR which covers the MB and most other manufacturers. Good experience so far

Took the plunge and went for the Autel MaxiPRO MP808BT Pro. Only decided due to their name being well know. Expecting it tomorrow or Weds, but will let you know how I get on.

Halfords online have a Foxwell something at what is supposed to be a very good price. I have an iCarsoft MB 2 for our cars, though they are MB.

Can't wait for an update. Be good to learn what DIDs (live data) and actuator tests it supports for the PCM on your W212.

Looks promising so far. With that many faults on your car I reckon it'll be getting plenty of use.
