Hi, just wondered if anyone can help me with a problem.

Over the last couple of months my car, E220CDI Estate, has stalled/cut out. It has happened three times, the latest was this morning. Each time the engine was cold, reversed out of my drive OK then when changing auto from R to D is when it cuts out. Even before I've pressed the accelerator to move off. Engine re-starts fine and off I go.

As I say, it's not a regular occurrence but I assume it's not normal?? Could something be on its way out? Car is 2.5 years old.

Thanks for any advice.

Probably something minor since car restarts and then drives OK .

Is the car due a service - maybe filter needing changed , some adjustment needed somewhere ?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Was last serviced in November, a 'C' service. Never had any other sort of trouble with it at all so if this is nothing serious maybe it's just one of those things that mysteriously happen from time to time.

Possibly worth popping back to wherever you get your servicing done to get it checked out - just in case it gets worse ...

Which part of Scotland are you in ? There's a get together in Glasgow on May 9th if you're interested - details in events section .

Oh dear, now I'm a bit worried. Even though the car is still in warranty what's the betting nothing else goes wrong until just after it has expired?!

Could a MB garage do any checks just now to find out if something is wrong? The trouble is that it has happened so infrequently that they'll say there's no fault found.

What mileage has it done?

If its still under warranty take it back

UPDATE...

OK so today I was at Mercedes-Benz Glasgow. I'd had a letter from MB HQ about a recall for changing the brake fluid filler cap so took it in for that. I told them about the cutting out problem and asked them to check it out.

The result was "No current or logged faults found, software up to date and auto box fluid level OK".

So still a mystery as it does keep happening every few days or so.
