Would removing the rear back box on the 2.1 bi turbo cause a droning noise would you think?

I ask because, I called into the exhaust fabrication shop i have used before to ask about having a visable exhaust exiting the the rear apron/ bumper. When looking the mentioned it would be very difficult to weld onto the rear box as the pipe that exits the rear box is so short and bent downward. He suggested removing back box completely and having it straight pipe with the visible tip of my choice. I see why he suggested this as the tip is very short and points downward. I don't want to remove the back box and then experience any type of drone. Low in the rev range.

Im only after the visual benefit of the exhaust not really the tone.

Could I put the 2.1 biturbo in the w212 AMG chassis then I could say I've experienced an e63 2.1 biturbo 😂

All seriousness, if the fabrication guy can't weld on to the back box pipe that exits the box. I think I'm going to leave it. As I don't want to remove the back box. They don't sound very good straight piped, in my opinion.

I'll call to see him once more, see what he suggests.

If you are looking at improving the looks, those tiny wheels would have to go.
I know you like the ride on 16's but W212 looks odd with anything less than an 18" wheel (IMO of course)

I would have thought there was enough exhaust poking out of the back box before it bends downwards ,to cut off and weld on a straight section to improve the looks?

I've had a few turbo charged cars over the years, one thing I found was when the exhaust rots and is full of holes, they are still not overly loud. I assume the turbo charger acts as some sort of silencer itself.
Maybe get them to remove the back box, start the car up and see what you think. You can always refit it if it's too loud. And don't forget, two turbos must be quieter than just having the one!

Wheels will be staying on I actually really like the look and the ride quality is fantastic.

It's ok saying just remove the back box and if don't like the sound put it back on. You can't get a good justified noise level. The car needs to be driven at many rpms to see how it affects the noise level. Reving a car at 1500 and driving on motorway at 2000 rpm consistant Is where it could have a droneing affect and become very annoying. Had this wit other cars.

I only want it for the visual purposes not for the sound. If all fails with the welding onto the original pipework. I have another plan, to use a different back box that has dual oval tips attached, from an e55 that I've kept. Not sure how that will sound. Not even sure it will work, but I can only ask.

Remove current box. Weld 55 box in place, with tips on show. Can't be that difficult surely. 🙄
