Stumbled on this on fchat today and found it interesting. Especially as a member of the group was involved in these right from the word go.

It's always interesting seeing these cars taken apart.

Makes me feel a lot better about the maintenance of my exotic!

Oh maybe you have to sign up - I'm a member there. Apologies if that's the case.

EDIT:- Yes I just logged in on an icognito broswer, you have to sign up to see the images. You can read the thread just not see the piccies unless you join.

Yes, I can't see the pictures, but I'm well aware of the effort and cost of keeping a 30 year old XJ220 in the best of health.
I have been fortunate in living quite close to the experts at looking after these cars, Don Law Racing, when I was 'up North'
One of the most cost effective way to drive one was to just be a chauffeur....

...or head the pack around Donington at a British GT festival.

Son, Justin Law is a really good race diver and hillclimber and I got the opportunity to run him at Pikes Peak in 2015 in another of his silver Jaguars and finish on the podium first time out!

That ticked another item off my bucket list. 😎

Went past the Swindon jaguar/land rover dealership yesterday and they have one on display. Awesome car

I’ve never seen one.
Not even one? I find them a bit like London buses....

I'm in the bright blue one, centre of the pack. Silverstone Classic 2017.

At the back of the pack is the infamous XJ220 transit. Used to test the mechanicals of the car prior to any of the prototypes being ready back in 1990.

Jodie didn't have to service the car, but she really did catch the idea of what the car is all about.
I've probably done more miles in one of these cars than anyone apart from Justin Law, and it still makes me feel the same way. What price do you put on that?

Beautiful cars! SNG Barrett the Stag specialists in Bridgenorth used to have a silver 220. 1st one i`d ever seen & probably only seen 2 since in 30 years. Here`s another beautiful Jag which i suspect Mactech had dealings with???1669659576184.png

My input into the XJR15 was restricted to race engineering the cars in the race series which supported the 1991 F1 Grand Prix.
My abiding memory is of Tiff Needel attempting to take Eau Rouge flat on his first pass on new tyres. Not a good look!
I felt the car was thinly disguised XJR9 race car with all the good bits taken away, ie. the downforce. The big old V12 was just about tolerable with a huge blanket of downforce to keep it on the road, but with that removed, it was a very difficult car to drive. I tested the car against 220's and on the steering pad at Milbrook. I could hold the 220 in a slide at most angles, but my talent ran out as soon as there was a hint of overseer in the 15 and resulted in a spin.
This trait was soon obvious in the race series which was won, not by an F1 driver, but by a really good German touring car driver Armin Hahne.
He just thought it was a very powerful touring car, whilst most of drivers with downforce experience thought it was awful without downforce to help them.
I met up with Armin last year at the members meeting at Goodwood last year when we had a flock of 15 XJR15's together for the first time since the race series.
Oddly, we all seem to have aged by 30 odd years...IMG_1195.JPG

I remember them at Silverstone, all lined up in a tent at the back of the paddock. I spoke to Derek Warwick once & he loved them at the time?!

Yes, Derek was a fully paid up TWR driver at the time in Ross Brawn's iconic XJR14. I guess he had his PR hat on!

I have a magic mirror in the bathroom that shows me what I'll look like when I get old. It's yours if you want it
