Just lost the back end...

... bit of a heart stopper, but only got to about 30 degress off line and avoided kerbs and the other side of the road so no harm done.

Was picking my 15 y/o daughter up, busy chatting to her as we went around a left hander, not pushing on, but the corner is at the bottom of hill so it's enter at about 30mph and throttle out up the hill. It's between home and the office so its a journey I have been doing for 22+ years.

Not sure exactly when it broke away, suspect it was as I applied the throttle (but no orange triangle). Anyway managed to grab an armful of opposite lock one way, and then the other as it fish tailed on me, then got it back under control.

Took both of us about 5 minutes to remember what we were talking about before it happened! Which was the fact they they seemed to be preping the road for re-surfacing. Now realise this included stripping that brown surfacing stuff they put on accident blackspots!!! Makes you wonder what sort of surface they left - perhaps I should have been paying more attention to the fact that this had gone.

Could be a spot of Diesel spill on the bend from another vehicle...this combined with the rain is often a bit of a surprise!

I know what you mean, though - the joys of rear wheel drives ;)

Last month I exited a roundabout and entered a dual carriageway which I have done probably thousands of times over the years. Back flicked out which was a complete suprise but my reactions corrected it no problem - it was all pretty automatic.

Scary but nice scary all the same :)
