P0344 - Changed Sensor

Hey guys,

2012, W204, C200 Diesel

I get an intermittent Engine Management light. Cheap code reader says ‘P0344 - Camshaft Position sensor’. Occasionally car goes in to a low power state, but mostly no change in performance.
I changed the Camshaft position sensor with a like for like Bosch sensor, but now I have the same code coming up.


Any ideas ???

aftermarket sensors are a pain. It may not be the correct one.

It could also be a wiring issue or a worn timing chain.

I believe its code reader issue more than camshaft sensor issue... true if wrong part, fault code triggers for sure.

I can't see how limp mode is triggered by cam sensor if car starts ok without sync problem and no limp.
Stretched chain of OM651 could give some timing problems.
