Hi all,

I hope everyone is well.

Does anyone know of a shop where I can get wet and dry paper (p3000) from over the weekend? (London Area)

Halfords only have p2500.

Is there much difference between the two?

Hex Holdings possibly

What are you using it for?

Cheers,

I am just rubbing down where I have painted a chip.

Initially I started using P2000 and it looked good. However I then dried the surface water and I saw some fine scratches. I managed to polished out some scratches with Menzerna but I could still see some ever so slightly and I do not want to go through the clear coat. I have had to repaint the chip as it is not quite flat yet, so I was thinking of using P2500 which is availble from Halfords or try and find P3000.

2,500 will be fine with some water or water and soap as a lubricant. You can always rub two sheets together to knock it down a bit.

Hex don't stock anything higher than 2000 grit.

2ooo grit is normal for flatting topcoat think you may find 3000 grit
very hard to find are you sure the fine scratches are not under the surface of the painted area IE. what grade did you use to flat and
prepare the surface first ?

Pm me ur postage details i can send you some. I even have 4000. My bussiness is refinishing. Any advice on compounds : finishings etc give me a pm. Cheers.

I used 2000 grit, I was rubbing down a touch up. It looked really good and then I noticed once the water had dried very fine scratches.

I tried rubbing them out and it looked okay, however not as clear as the rest of the bodywork.

The scratches are not under the paint work, they were not there before I started :D

Thanks Smoothcoupe,

I am heading down Halfords to get some 2500 grit and rubbing compund. If it works then great. If not, will your offer still be open?

On my ML, I need advice with regards to the bonnet. It looks like the night sky with a lot of stars! I was thinking of touching them all up and then using a fine wet and dry. Although on closer inspection there are loads! Probably close to 100 and some have started to rust .

In an ideal situation I would get the bonnet resprayed, however the bodyshop said I would also need the tops of the wings doing and a light spray on the front bumper.

costing ££££.

I hope you can help
