You actually use your paddles?

Or is this for aesthetic reasons only.

(Anybody I have spoken to with paddles on a MB or BW saloon usually admits to trying them once or twice and then forgetting about them .....)

Oh yea, i have paddles on my car!

When I did the paddle conversion on my W219 I purchased a set of aluminium ones from the far east , they just replaced the original iffy plastic ones (not the switches) that were original fitted.

I was hoping for more than a link from another forum. Tbh.

I like the buttons on my CLS55. Minimalistic and just snick with the little finger.

Although rather too easy to press accidentally, as I found out negotiating a roundabout, exiting in a very exciting drift as the car down-shifted suddenly!:D:D

There not a link to another forum, I've found those on eBay for you, I've got them fitted to my E class coupe albeit in silver, they work and look great.

I actually managed to tear one of my OEM aluminium paddle clean off the bloody steering wheel ! The wheel was at 90' to the right and I slid into the car ass first to get something and the leg pocket on my baggy shorts caught the tip of the paddle and tore the whole thing off  It was hanging by the wires so I popped back into the supermarket I had just come out of and bought a reel of masking tape to hold the thing in place until I got home :wallbash: The repair was a bit fiddly but it's OK now.

P.S I rarely use them anyway.

Do people find that the reason they don’t use them is the lag in gearbox changing ?

I'm just happy to let the 'box do it's thing, paddles are superfluous to me. As said, tried them a few times not used them since.

Despite my gearbox being the AMG 'speedshift' version by modern standards it is pretty dim witted and can sometimes be a bit slow in changing , it has been serviced and I do that ignition key reset thing now and again..does it work ? who knows ? Thankfully the car has enough power and torque to get along fine if it finds itself in the 'wrong' gear. In the very rare occasions I have driven in manual I find knocking the gear lever has a more immediate affect on gear selection than the paddles. But it is something I so rarely do I can't really say if it matters much either way.

I dont use mine as when steering you have to keep looking for them when the wheel isint very straight
