Given I was about to retro fit E63 gear change paddles to my E55 this morning, dismantling the switches and swapping the internals of each switch over and then fitting to the wheel. Suddenly thought last night, Alps was stating in a previous thread that late 04 on cars could take a straight swop of the E63 whole wheel inc paddles with no conversion, my car is 06, does this mean I dont need to swap the internal switches over, and just straight fit the new paddles as they come to my steering wheel. Advice greatly appreciated. (Alps or anyone techie have thoughts on this). thanks

Ricky, yep, you should be able to use the paddles as they are without swapping the internals!

Thanks for that info Alps, I'm straying into unknown terroritory doing this.
But good to get your confirmation on this.

you are, but if think abt it this way, if the paddles work without stripping them as they do on a 06 car, then why strip them? just follow the remaining retrofit instructions!

now the only bit im not sure of is the part where the paddles plug in, obviously on a wheel swap, all that is on the new wheel, on your one you are using the same. im sure it will work, worst case you will need to pull it all apart and start again, which in fairness isnt that much work once youve done everything else! but im 99% sure it will work as is.
