Anyone done one of these - was it worth the £800 > £900?

Also, do they have offers for these events or is it full rate or forget it...?

I did several Jonathan Palmer days years ago (our clients loved it) and they were great. Worth it, yes.

I expect if you are taking a large group, some discounts might be on the cards but I didn't organise the days so don't know.

I've done 6 in total at Palmersport 2 x corporate and 4 x car clubs but never paid anywhere near that. Depends how much driving time you get I suppose. Its a great day and I have done many of these and Palmersport would rank in the top 3. Not cheap but good.

MB Club day out to reduce cost perhaps?

..and you can have fun at palmersport knowing you have won the same amount of F1 races as the owner has :D

My business partner constantly pesters me to go on one of these, so if there's a potential MB Club group booking there's a reasonable chance 2 of us would join in.

Great idea - I'd definitely be up for an MBClub group event if we can get the numbers together.

Even if enough to make a reasonable drop. I think Off Peak is £864 when I looked earlier.

I've been considering this for well over 2 years now and as I am 85 next month - I thought better to do it sooner rather than later.

I'm maybe thinking when the weather improves next year?

Let's see - anyone else interested...

I went on a corporate day years ago and it was excellent. We drove:

Single-seater (Formula Ford?)
Elise
Caterham
Kart
HGV
Off-road course
CLK
Golf V6
Skid pan car (E Class, IIRC)

Jonathan Palmer arrived by helicopter to make the awards at the end of the day.

They made a big point of the fact that none of the cars had rpm/speed limiters and you were really encouraged to 'press on'. If you can afford it then it's definitely worth doing.

5. Meldrew2 - also depending on date. Sounds fantastic.

I did a 1/2 day as a corporate event, really good fun. Our experience involved
Go karts
Aerial Atom(Tutored)
Le mans styled 2 seater (Tutored allowing you to learn the track for the single seater)
Single seater

As said above they really encourage you to press on, think I spun out 3 times over the course of the event. Each time they encouraged me to get back on it as soon as I was pointing the right way again!

looking good for your age John :)

That's a fair chunk of cash, what do you get for your money?

I would be up for it if the dates and price is good.

I did a palmer day .. 12 years back.. it was a good day then, good to go with people you know to add to the competitive nature.

even so, good range of cars then - they will have changed the cars but should still be good nonetheless.

Lol - hence 2 years and counting for me to do it.

It's 1.5 iPhone 6's or two Vmax's in my mind - alebit I think you get a lot more for your money - which seems to be echoed on this thread.

Go here and look at "What is PalmerSport" and also the intro video:

PalmerSport at Bedford Autodrome - The world's best corporate hospitality driving event

When I first looked into it, it seems they are keen to push you rather than some crap experience where you have 3 laps and are limited to 5,000rpm.

I did a couple of corporate days when it was the "Jonathan Palmer Experience" at Bruntingthorpe around 15 years ago.

As others have said, the instructors encourage you to go for it and the cars aren't artificially limited. The only stipulation was that if you went grass cutting you had to return to have the car checked over which meant that you lost some of your track time. Both times I went were full days and were excellent, especially the second as I wasn't so concerned about losing track time through coming off, so I pushed harder :D

Pretty similar to Bill, across the two events I drove:

  • Formula Ford single-seater
  • Lotus Elise (I still have the trophy for FTD :thumb: )
  • Caterham 7 (both the GM 16v & K-Series powered versions)
  • Karts
  • HGV
  • Off-road
  • Skid pan car (W210 E Class, so it was probably around the same time as Bill)
  • W202 C36 (on slicks I was amazed at how much cornering force it generated)
  • Golf VR6
  • Accord Type-R
  • Impreza P1 (it made no sense at all until you had it going sideways)
It isn't cheap, but it is good value. I'd be up for a day out if timing suits.

I've emailed them to see what difference the numbers might make.

Even if not, would still be cool to go as an MBClub thing.

Last corporate prices I saw were £10k for 15 guests including food and trophies but that was a few years ago.

The price rockets to 5 figures with suite hire - so that could be why.

I got a response this morning.

We need a team of 12 people to get a discount.

Some examples:

If we go in band A times of the year (all of March and early April), it's:

£655 per single person. £625 per person in a team of 12 person

Band B is most of April and early May / end of May and it's:

£685 / £645 as above.

I can send on the PDF so if you want a copy - drop me a PM with your email and I will send it on...
