Parking in Nottingham...

You will note that she is clutching a wheel arch in her hand....

Happens all the time, two pounds an hour to park anywhere in town to make the tram economically viable and no worthwhile enforcement so ***** park anywhere - FX is a Lincoln plate, nuff said.

Park in Loogerberoogah (Loughborough in US speak) and catch a train.

...two pounds an hour to park anywhere in town

Easy fix for that, just push the button on the car park exit barrier...complain about extortionate charges to spend money in shops, lost ticket, forgot to have ticket validated at checkout, returned faulty goods...the arm goes up immediately, often before you've even spoken to the person at the other end ;)

Awaiting flak from 'disgusted of wherever'... :D

"Trams couldn't get around the parked vehicle, which was left sitting across the curb and sidewalk"

Yet more 'Americanese' creeping into our language :(

This is the UK , not the USA , so 'pavement' instead of 'sidewalk' and 'kerb' not 'curb' .

While I have no sympathy for the selfish driver , I wonder how the tram system copes if something breaks down in their path ( say a 190E with a collapsed front ball joint ) or a larger vehicle like a dustbin lorry , neither of which could be so easily moved out of the way ?

Then , of course , if there is a fire , trams cannot be rerouted around a street full of emergency vehicles as easily as a bus could .

People will video anything on their phones nowadays. It's a car, a tram and some blokes. Big deal.

Would you be saying the same if she had abandoned her car across the front of your drive thereby preventing you from getting your car out?

It's a car, a tram, some blokes and a big ignorant bitch. That's the deal.

But is it worth dozens of people congregating to watch and videoing it on their phone, as they've got nothing else to do with their lives? I don't think so. Perhaps take a photo or two.

The level of misogyny in your second sentence is depressing, as is the level of aggression. Perhaps you need to calm down. I wouldn't call her "ignorant" and I certainly wouldn't call her a "bitch". She's selfish and might need her eyes testing, nothing more.

As for a made-up scenario where she had somehow managed to block my drive, no, in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't be a big deal. I'd try and find her and ask her to move. There's no point getting wound up about things.

If this is the level of discourse at this forum, I'll think I'll go somewhere else. I'll still buy a C class in 18 months as I was planning, but I can't be doing with your level of unpleasantness. You sound like the type of moron who would target people like Stella Creasy and Richard and Judy's daughter on the internet.

Bye!

Did you miss the bit where the members of the public moved the daft cows car for her? So the tram could get going again?

Its a good question, the driver presumably phones in and waits for someone to do something...while they certainly have plenty of tow trucks for car parking offences there doesn't appear to be any provision for moving HGVs etc...when a tram breaks down the response is to send out 'technicians' to fix it, what they would do if it can't be fixed at the roadside doesn't appear to be have been considered, not sure if trams can tow each other?

Even a trolley bus could be re-routed within a few hours, trams...not at all. Still you can count on the council to go for the most expensive, least efficient option whenever they get a chance

As on most fora, the contributors are made up of a broad range of people with a broad range of opinions and outlooks on life. If you really judge the whole forum on the basis of one post by which you are offended, perhaps you are overly prone to jumping to conclusions, and it really is not for you. You may not be missed. Bye indeed...

There was no aggression in my post and if you're offended by the word bitch then I suggest most areas of the Internet should be kept on some kind of parental lock to avoid future.

I'm far from any type of moron and despite my opinion of that woman (who is blatantly ignorant to have left her car there to grab a coffee for 20 mins) I seem to be far less judgemental than you.

Trolling people online is a woeful activity and I've far more productive things to be doing than even reading about crap like that in the Mail and the other gossip rags. Think it's a little OTT to lump my post in with anonymous threats to rape and kill but if that's where your fantasy land takes you then so be it but kindly keep those little scenarios in your head.

Yes, I agree it didn't need a large group to stand around filming it (and I wouldn't have been part of that) but at least the same group were able to move the car and allow the people using the public transport to get on their way.

Please feel free to also be depressed by this post and I'm more than supportive of any decision or yours to stay or flounce off to another forum.

Your call.

The old Trams at Blackpool could certainly couple up and push or pull a disabled one , and , yes , I remember the old Glasgow trolley buses could venture short distances away from the wires on battery power . Even failing one of the newer trams being able to help another , they must have some kind of breakdown vehicle to recover them .

I suppose if there were tram lines down each side of a street , a blocked tram might be able to switch over to the opposite track , points and other trams permitting , but I doubt there would be a completely alternative route in the event of a whole street being closed due to a major incident of some kind .
