Hiya folks, my first post on here, so please forgive me if I have crashed the gates of forum etiquette but I wanted to bring this to your attention as I think it might be important.
Thanks for your patience.:)

Subject: FW: ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS PLEASE READ

ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS PLEASE READ

Warning!!!! Be aware of new car-jacking scheme.

You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. Then you
Lock all your doors, start the engine and shift or put into reverse. You
Look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and you
Notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.

So, you shift the gear stick back into park or neutral, unlock your
Doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper or whatever it is
That is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car that
Is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and
Take off!! Your engine was running, you would have left your purse
in
the car and They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED IN GLASGOW AND
MANCHESTER AND IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!

Just drive away and remove the paper later! It is stuck to your window
And be thankful that you read this email. I hope you will forward this
To friends and family especially to women! A purse contains all
Identification and you certainly do NOT want someone getting your home
Address. They already HAVE your keys!!!

JUST BE AWARE AND TAKE CARE IT WILL PROBABLY SOON ARRIVE IN YOUR AREA

Hi

just goes to show the simple things please simple minds !

the simplest scams do realy work !

in this day and age with all of the complicated fandangled technology we have.
it's got the average human brain thinking differently !
were all so technologicaly confused about security gadgets that we overlook the simple old caveman approach !
something kid's would do that would drive you nut's

because we are running around like rats in today's race to get there before someone else does !
it's so simple that addults would never think of being plauseable.

to prove my point the original email was sent on the 16/01/2006
and it's taken nearly a year to appear on here !

ps.
no doubt someone out there will correct me on this

old car jacking scam

hooded person appears with big knife demands keys ...and drives off .....works every time .......

Seems I have been given some rather old news there, sorry, oh well, best to be careful I guess.
I personally believe it is the thought that counts. You posted this message in good faith and I think that is a nice gesture and hopefully it will make us all aware.

Okay we can all say it is a scam, but perhaps some misunderstood, misguided, oppressed yuff might also read about this elsewhere and think it's a great idea to try out?

welcome to the forum and thanks for the post.

Regards
Private John;) (in joke)

Off Topic:

If ANYONE asks you for spare change or to borrow 30/40P to make a phone call just simply walk away. The try and coax you into getting your wallet/purse out and will make a grab and run. Had one numpty come up to me and ask to borrow some money to make a phone call. I told him to reverse charge the calls instead… Also, women work with some thieves/muggers as well. They will approach you and ask for some change and when you get your wallet/purse out a man will come along and make a grab.

The above is NOT a hoax and I am talking from experience and what I have seen first hand myself with the mugging scenario.

OK I accept this is a hoax e-mail but what on earth do they gain from it??

One of the last lines says it all:
I hope you will forward this
To friends and family especially to women!

Immagine this, if 2 people send it to 10 addresses each time, in a very short time, you get a HUGE amount of people spammed by it. Most people will just click the "forward to" option, thus including as text all the previous email addresses (ESPECIALLY because so few people use BLIND CC).

Sooner or later, the email-address loaded message will fall into the wrong hands, be it by someone clicking on reply to all, someone actually forwarding it to the wrong people or simply an infected system.

Suddenly, "the wrong person" has a list of email addresses to harvest, and whats more important is that 99% of them will be valid and active...

So whats the point? Its to harvest active email address databases, that can then be sold to unscrupulous [sic] people who will spam you even more...

Proving that if some people get an email from a 'friend' they instantly believe it to be true and act on it. Its like the old Good Times Virus hoax or the don't open any mail it will kill your hard drive type of mails. It goes to the root of how easily fooled some people are.
