Like several others I had no desire for a car - I only lusted after a Triumph Trident.
Possibly this very one in Coventry museum which was where I would go to drool over it when finishing school early or wagging games.
The only car I really lusted after was the R107 - sometime around the mid seventies.
Working at a Mercedes garage I got to drive a few of them and just found them sublime to drive, roof up or not.
Not really.
I blame my Dad, he was always keen on a bargain. It was 18 months old but had been garaged for about 17 of them as the owner had died shortly after delivery and had under 1000 miles on it.
It turned out to be an awesome car, I hammered the life out of it and it kept going and it wasn’t slow for a non hot hatch. I still miss it a little.
