Does anyone know, what exactly is the difference between A1695420018 and A2125420018 other than the 212 does not come colour-coded, so needs to be painted?

I need to replace a sensor (could just be a bad connection, but knowing my luck, it's probably a faulty sensor), so bought the 212 one:

Well, there is a "from chassis No." reference in the EPC.
That being said I replaced one on a W203 with one off a W211 with no issues......

Yes, that's why I asked the question - the "from" number is later, than my car.

when you look on ebay , the same sensor covers nearly every model . having said that ive just looked at my epc and A1695420018 favours your car more , A2125420018 was used more on the ML350/250 etc ....

OK, so I got the answer now: the A2125420018 fits W169 from 2007-2008 onwards, prior to that - it's A1695420018.

Unfortunately for me, that means the front bumper [might] have to come off again, if I can't manage to fit the correct sensor - we swap the faulty one from inside left to outside left, so it's easy to access, hopefully without removing the bumper this time.

Incidentally, would the car need to go on STAR to get the Parktronic working again, after the replacement?
I realised the stored error code will still be there, it's just re-activation I'm concerned with.

When I replaced a sensor on my ML270, I had to clear fault before system worked again.

Thanks, that's what I suspected ... luckily a friend with a STAR is only about 14 miles away.

Yes, it's on my list, probably next item, or one after that ...

I paid £146 delivered for mine, so far its.....
Diagnosed a EPS/BAS issues as requiring "road test" (which worked and cleared lights)
Diagnosed and cleared parking sensor fault, told me which sensor was faulty and then cleared fault.
diagnosed a temperature sensor fault on our Mini Clubman and reset fault after replacing sensor.
Diagnosed aan ABS sensor fault on my daughters Aygo, which turned out to be a broken wire.

So if you think taking to a dealers for a code read would cost at minimum £60 a time, it has paid for itself. Its not the best bit of kit in the world, but for a DIY scanner, it will do.

my local indie used a £500 snap on code reader on my e320 to try and reset the aircon after a regas , it failed, but my icarsoft mb2 found the problem and let me reset it. so its up there with the best imho.

Sorry, cant comment as ML270 does not have that brake system (at least i do not think it has, i keep finding things i thought it did not have !!!!)
It reads my ML very well on all its bits
