Now that SWMBO has taken an interest in the 500 ("it's quite nippy and does the wiggly bits well"! You couldn't make it up!) I fear I must get parking sensors fitted. I know nothing about these things and wondered if anyone has had them fitted to a 129.

I seem to recall seeing some that fit to the rear view mirror; a camera system would be ok'ish but I don't really want to replace the Travel Pilot.

Should I be going the a Main Dealer for this?

All thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

I had parking sensors retro fitted to my SL when i had it and they worked well, they were audio only so no visual. Most main dealers use contractors to have sensors retro fitted and cost in the region of £250.

We have retro fitted sensors on our A4 cabrio and the are ok, we had to have the car returned to th edealers a few times to get them adjusted propoerly but now work fine.

I'd personally be looking for a non-MB audio-only system. Having had them on a VW (factory) and a Honda (dealer fit) they work fine IMO.

The (factory) Parktronic in my Vito has both the front and rear displays on the dash btw. I'm not that impressed ... there's a significant lag, so you need to move pretty slowly.

I was giving it some more thought and i was confused, i did have audio and viisual displays, I had the display mounted on top of the backrest for the rear seats, just below the roll over bar.

was looking at some pictures of my old 129...really miss it and fancy another in the next year or two.
