Hi again to you all out there.

I am about to buy a 10 plate W204 C220CDI Elegance Estate Auto that unfortunately does not have parking sensors fitted.

My question is :-- Does the W204 come ready wired for fitting OEM parts or a kit if available ?

What about fitting a recommended after-market kit ?

Thank you in advance.

There is no wiring there. You can fit aftermarket (flush if you want) sensors. Retrofitting factory parking sensors is hugely expensive !

Hi Richard. Thank you, BUT what is hugely expensive ?

I am getting quite confusing and contradictory info from various sources about whether they can or cannot be fitted and that they are ready prepared and it is just a case of 'plug and play' after the bumpers have been drilled for them.

Hi Gazwould. What is so special about an 11 plate facelift 250 CDI ?

What about the potential failure of the alleged "Chocolate" timing chain sprockets !!

The facelift got two thousand improvements ?

7 gears automatic , 2.0L economy with 3.0L torque makes for an effortless frugal drive .

The sprockets aren't chocolate , it's primarily a chain tensioner issue that if not replaced will then have fun with the chain guides and chain .

The hydraulic chain tensioner early wear is linked to the repetitive nature of stop start and best switched off or very easily disabled.

If Richard says there is no wiring prepared, there is none. What can we do about the contradictory info, no way to shut up someone who does not know what he talks about.

How could the OEM installation be plug-and-play? The parktronic indicators are old style separate indicators on the dash and at the rear roof. Installing all the parts and wiring is possible but a significant task. In addition other control units need version coding, the official way is adding option codes to Vedoc followed by on-line SCN coding.

Or learn to park without needing sensors

Well, 95% of drivers are better than average drivers according to their own opinion. The OP may be a perfect driver but may still fancy electric gizmos. Or perhaps he gives the car to his wife (who on the average are worse drivers but have less collisions, we men emphasise the first part), his kids or parents or granny...

Hi to all that provided one sort or another of help/advise !!

My earlier years with a W203 55 (05) plate C220 CDI Auto Estate 170 bhp directly from the factory was without sensors - front and back was pleasant enough but having run an 08 plate E64 BMW 635d I have been somewhat spoiled.

Yes I could have bought a W204 with sensors already fitted but the ones that I found had poor or no service history and MoT history that literally raised the hairs on the back of my neck with multiple advisories that were simply ignored until the failures finally resulted in them either being sold for very very little or being towed away.

I finally was rewarded with a 10 plate C220 CDI Auto Estate with 82,650 miles with full history and a very very respectable MoT history.
The car was a Mercedes Benz demo car for the 1st 6 moths and the bought by a doctor until being sold back into the dealership.

My avatar was my first C220 CDI Auto Estate and the image just posted is of my recent acquisition.

For some strange reason the image is not visible !!
