Not being familiar with having parktronic on any of my previous Mercedes whilst I thought the display on th SL350 I bought looked a little out of place I didn't know any difference. Apparently the indicators are supposed to be either side of the clock but a previous owner has fitted a similar display that sits forward of the clock close to the windscreen. You can see it directly ahead of the clock and vent in the photo.

Now I know it's not correct it's going to irk me until such time as I get it fixed so does anybody know why this may have been fitted, are the original displays prone to packing up? Also does anyone know if it's likely to be a difficult job to reinstate the correct display.

I assume that given the after market display fitted must get it's signal from the sensors as the original did that hopefully it won't be too big a wiring job but the original connector may have been cut off. Close up interior.JPG

It's an aftermarket display because aftermarket front parking sensors have been added. They were standard on the rear but an option on the front.

Hi flowrider, thanks for the prompt reply, do you know if there is there any of integrating these so that I can have the original display working and lose the one near the screen? I don't recall the factory fit one coming on when I use reverse. I get an audible when I select reverse and the beeps get quicker the closer you get to something and I know the front causes the amber and red bars on the after market one to light up but there's no audible on the front.
Ideally I would like to have both front and rear but with the factory fit display.

Not sure about integrating with the OEM display but you should have a separate display for the rear sensors, it's behind the seats and might be slightly obscured by the wind deflector.

Ok I guess I asked for that one, I was just curious as it would be nice to get rid of that after market from the dash if possible.
Don't tell me, I can and the front display may be slightly obscured by the bonnet? :)

You've lost me! Do you have the display for the rear sensors?

Sorry I thought you were having a little tongue in cheek moment there re a display behind the seats.
I just checked my chassis number on the VIN decoder and interestingly parktronic isn't listed under the SA codes now you mention it. The other interesting point is that according to that my key has keyless go but I only have two what I believe are normal Mercedes keys. There is an engine start/stop button on top of the gearstick but this doesn't do anything, or at least I can't get it to do anything.

I think on the older keyless go you needed a key card, if you dont have one then i guess it was lost and i don't think they are available to buy anymore. Sounds like the front sensors are definately aftermarket then.

To be honest I really didn't want keyless go anyway. I shall endeavour to make sure that the module has been removed if you keys are no longer available.
I'd much rather get rid of that after market sensor display if I can than try and get the keyless go working. :)

if like it sounds, your front parking sensors are aftermarket and have a display, that is where the sound comes from too. if it bugs you, you could just relocate it to just round the side of the dash so it can still be heard but not in your view anymore.
