I have ordered a Pela 6000 and was just wondering if it would be able to suck out diff oil? Some ham fisted bafoon has mangled the drain plug on mine so I have never been able to drain it.

Yeah it will if you do it after a run when the diff is warm. mine done it ok on my Jag.

It should work it the pipe is flexible enough. Even if it does work I suspect that it may not get all the oil out, not the end of the world just do it again in a month or so. I have one, a larger version and I've only used it a couple of times as I much prefer to drain from the plug. I'd advocate that you should really get someone to simply weld a bolt to the mangled plug and fit a new one. I had to get this done on my Suzuki as I badly mangled the gearbox plug as it was seized solid and never opened in ten years. Twenty quid well spent at the local garage.

Definitely get the oil warm first, it helps a great deal.

I was a bit concerned it wouldn't get all the old oil out, so the first time I used mine I removed the drain plug after the Pela had done its work. I left the plug out while I did the rest of the engine service, during which time no more than a tablespoon of oil had drained out of the sump.

I suppose it all depends on getting the open end of the tube to the lowest point, but if you can it will definitely extract all the oil.

My Pela wont pull engine oil (very similar viscosity to gear oils BTW - despite the numbering) when it is cold but when warm it lifts the very last drop.
When you get close to extracting all the oil, fiddle with the tube positioning and you will hear where it is finding oil and where it is drawing air.

stwat the pump i use is 12volt all in a neat box ,catch tank leads and selection of pipes and clips . Works ok, as the tubes all push in to one another down to 1/8 dia .pop the clips on the battery and switch it on .Ok with warm oil but slow if cold .
