Just checked the oil level, dip stick is a bit low but between the Marks (lower)
Checked oil level via the dash and it says

Perf Serv. On time.

What does that mean, I'm none the wiser.

I think I need to add oil, I've looked in the service and hand books but can find no mention of what type to use.
Can I use any fully synthetic? can I top up with any fully synthetic (mix different oils)
Do/can these E320 CDI's use oil?

I had the same problem with the oil being a bit low and not knowing the type to top up with. I was going to go to quickfit as they do an oil change for £25 and figured at that price I may as well just have the whole lot changed.

In the end as my MOT was due in a few weeks I had it Serviced and MOT'd even though the service was not due for a few thousand miles.

I had the same question with my W210 E430, occasionally the reading would say "perform service on time" and if I tried a few minutes later it said it was OK, I guess it seems to depend on how communicative the car is feeling :)

If the car says you need to add oil it will actually tell you to add 1.5 litres or 1 litre or whatever of oil so you dont need to add any unless it actually tells you to.

I bought some from Halfords and they have a book there to tell you what sort to buy - easy.

It means: Wait a few minutes and then check it again. It should give you a oil level reading after waiting. A good tip is make sur the car is level and is at operating temp.
