hi

i am having some alloys refurbed at the moment and have been looking for some cheap(ish) winter tyres for my r129

they have got 2x brand new and 2x used (500 miles) Pirelli Sottozero 225 r17 45 and want £90 for each tyre.

does that sound like a good deal?

i was going to go for some cheap Nankang Snow SV-2 or something like that but the pirelli's sound like they would do the job as well

just not sure if the price is right.

what do you think?

The Pirellis sound like a decent deal to me and I take that they are ''there''. No further hassle.

Is 225/45/17 a bit on the small size for an R129? Seems like a 202/208 type tyre size? :)

i currently run 225/55/16 on the r129 with summer tyres. i think 235/45/17 are recommended but i think 225/45/17 will work as well. from what i have been told narrower tyres work better on winter tyres in snowy conditions and they are also the price difference between 225 and 235 is quite significant (at least a full tank of fuel :-) )

yep tyres are there and no hassle.
