So today while trying to change the foglights on the rally car someone decided to dump the contents on the Thames over me...
Out of frustration (and a general feeling of drenched-ness) I remembered that a DIY garage had advertised on here a while ago.
Being in a rush - I couldn't take advantage of their special offer for members; (you need to contact them on the forum for a voucher) but headed down without booking, calling or otherwise advising them.
Ended up staying there two hours (1 hour in a normal bay and one of the ramp) and paying £30 (£10 for the normal bay and £20 for the ramp) and thoroughly enjoyed it (except for the unleaded shower when the bolts on the fuel filter finally gave way)!
They've got all the tools (which I wasnt expecting, so brought my own) - and when I found I needed two spanners (i.e. an extra one) they had them in both metric and imperial. We even got offered some warm beer by a group of kids working on their japanese racer thing... which, given that I was driving, had to politely turn down.
At the end of the day, it's the small things that count - e.g. the hand-wash station has pre-work cream, swarfega style handwash and moisturizer for after...
So my verdict? Highly recomended! The only thing I would like to see is the ability to use power tools, e.g. a griding disk or a drill... or a welding rod... but other than that it was a really well spent couple of hours. I ended up changing the foglights, changing the fuel filter, refitting the door, fitting the safety hammer, fitting the new horn (not dixie unfortunately) fitting some sponsor stickers, and refitting the bumper which was mis-aligned.
Next, I need to wait for the rest of the sponsor stickers to arrive from the printer, get fire extinguisher and a new foglight lens (my friend who was helping dropped one of the lenses and broke it.. ugh!)
So - Pit Start gets my approval
