Hi,

I need some tips in changing all 4 of my tyres as they are showing some signs of wear on a c220d amg line 16 plate. Current Tyres I have on the vehicle are summer tyres , continental conti sport. I was thinking of fitting all season tyres on my car since we are approaching winter like the Michelin crossclimate +.

The only issue is that the Michelin Cross climate+ only comes in a tyre profile 45, my current tyre profile on the rear of the car is 40, would this still fit on the car?

My Current Tyres are:

Front / 225/ 45/R18 Y

REAR: 245/40/R18

Looking to change my tyres to the following:

Front Tyres:

Michelin CrossClimate+ (T1018354)
Tyre Size 225/45Y18

Rear Tyres

Michelin CrossClimate+ (T1016109)
Tyre Size 245/45Y18

So would the crossclimate + fit or would you recommend something else?

Yes Cross Climate are great tyres but I would suggest that you find all weather tyres from a different brand in the right size for your car.

You could have a problem with the increased circumference on the rear. This can "confuse" the various sensors and prevent the cruise working (amongst other things) . When I asked a couple of tyre fitters about this for the CLX (245/45/17 instead of 245/40/17 they both said don't do it.

How about Vredestein Quatrac 5 made in your sizes 245/40 R18 and 225/45 R18 ?

Good tyres. I've used them for years in adverse conditions.

I believe the general rule is to keep any changes to less than 1% or at least that's what I've been told and try to follow.
Changing from 40 profile to 45 profile will give you a change in the rolling circumference of 3.62%, see link below.

I would fit the same size front and rear tbh is they are both authorised sizes.

What about the new Bridgestone all season, or Goodyear 4Season, or the Vredesteins mentioned above?
Are they available in the correct size?
