That day i had a started a thread that my car e220 w124 is sufferin from a continuous misfiring and Some nice ppl on this forum told me to get the coil pack and transistors and the HT extenders chkd...today i got em checked to knw that the plug cords number 1 and 3 werent firing...but still the engine is running but wid misfires continuatons...the mechanic told me that one of the two coils is faulty...i dnt trust anyone here..any suggestions if he is true???pls help...the car aint goin beyond 4000 rpms and is givin a mileage of 4 km/l....

This is a very common failure on that model so your mechanic is probably correct. It could be the coil itself, its low tension supply wiring, or the ECU. The coils are about £65 from Eurocarparts but be careful as there there are 2 types the ones mounted externally under the inlet manifold and those under the cam coverplate. Be sure to have your VIN [CHASSIS] number to hand when ordering.

thanx Grober....He didnt take off the manifold but he clicked a pic of the coils to knw the part number so the coils were the external ones only....still i'd get the internal ones checked too...i hope it stops unburnt fuel oozing outta the exhaust...and better fuel consumption too...but bro..how do i make sure which coil is upset???

If there are 2 external coils[there are only 2] there wont be any internal ones. The convention mechanics use is always to number the spark plugs/ cylinders from the front of the engine so the no 1 plug/cylinder is closest to the radiator. That is the convention i will use. Each coil fires 2 plugs coil NUMBER 1 [ nearest the front] fires plugs 1 and 4 and coil NUMBER 2 fires plugs 2 and 3 If he says plugs 1and 3 [from the cabinside] aren't firing-- that is plugs 2 and 4 using the correct naming convention then both coils are suspect. Are you sure you have got those numbers correct?

About £2x65 plus carriage. If you are based in the Punjab I can't comment on your local prices Eurocarparts do international deliveries Euro Car Parts Delivery | Car Parts | Car Accessories | Car Tools
but I reckon you would be better sourcing the parts locally.

hey bro...do u knw the part no....i searched online and i got 0001501780 and 0001502880.....are these correct?
