PMS to HFM conversion?

Hello. Currently swapping a m111.941 engine from a 98 w202 to a 94 w202 that had a m111.920.
The problem im having is the wire harness from the car to the ecu.
Already got the new engine mounted in the car im going to use.
To sum it up, putting a hfm engine and engine harness in a pms wired car.
Possible to take all wires apart and redo them or am i better off swapping out everything?

Did the 98 donor car have a canbus system? 98 was the year there was a MAJOR W202 whole car electronics upgrade IIRC

Yes i believe so. I think i saw some canbus wires going in a spiral further into the harness. Didnt mess with it to much just incase i needed evwrything. Ive gotten the pin data now, so wirting everything down and maybe just tranfer the connectors to the ecu?

Maybe possible to remove the canbus system? Or is that needed for ecu to work?

I believe the CANBUS is required for the ECU to run. I don't think you can run a hybrid type of electronics on these cars. They are essentially networked and talk to each other--- If one section of the network does not give the right signals other sections may not function either.

Fair enough. I’ll swap the whole harness and hpoefully it will work. Thx for answers

Any tips or heads up i should take extra precaution for that you know of?
