He thinks the GLA boot is small...That's quite a significant lift. Maybe possible with custom suspension components (sourced from who, I know not), but I'd expect that to invalidate the warranty on suspension, steering and driveshaft components.
So in practical terms I'd say the answer is no.
Would a GLA have not been a better proposition?
I suspect you're right!Perhaps it will be cheaper to get fit instead.
I thought this also, even if he were to modify the seat mountings to give a greater adjustment? Less knock-on problems regarding handling and stabilityraises the drivers seat to the highest position,
Easy enough if it has memory seats: store driving settings in one memory, and access/egress settings in another.Maybe though - manipulate the seat height (height and reach adjustment) for entering and exiting then resume comfortable driving position? Electric seat adjustment would make this easier (if at all possible) but slow?

I suspect Mercedes wont take too kindly as the car has arrived to the UK already. As per st13phil's comments - and adding potential stability issues not to mention insurance and the possible requirement for validation of competence via engineer's report or IVA.
Brutal to say, but he's chosen the wrong car. Can't he renegotiate a deal to a more suitable car before the CLA is delivered?
Lets just say he didnt take care of himself. Kudos to your dad with 25 more years than mine and fitter.I suspect you're right!
FWIW, my father is 90 years old and not as agile as he was, but he can still get in and out of my W177 A-Class...
As others said... raising a new car it's a non-starter. Cost, warranty, stability, reliability, insurance... he would be better-off buying a taller car instead e.g. GLA.
Said that... IF he went for the non-sport model of the CLA, then the car will be higher than the sport variants, and it will not have the sports seats with the raised side bolsters, so if he then raises the drivers seat to the highest position, he might just be OK with the CLA.
