....but hey, this could be worth a look.....

Mercedes-Benz CLK430 4.3 auto Avantgarde | eBay

It's on sale at a Volvo dealers. I just spoke to them, they're selling it for what they paid for it. It's sold with no service history, roof doesn't work properly, small patch of rust on a front wheel arch and needs a good clean.

£2K though.....

Hi.
Not a Volvo dealer. They WERE a Volvo franchise however lost it many years ago. Bought a bodged V70 estate from them some years ago. They allegedly serviced it however 1 year later when I took it to an indie for a repair they discovered the sump drain was welded shut, presumably to stop an oil leak.

Car may be worth a a look but tread carefully.

Why? If it was indeed welded that probably wasn't the dealer and anyway the dealer would suck the oil out to change it so no issue anyway.

As the O/p said, the Merc is being sold in the condition it came in, they haven't touched it.
I actually don't believe they are selling it for what they paid for it, especially since it's had a decent valet and will have 3 months warranty.

I suspect they gave about £1000 for it.

because he used the word "bodged" why would you want to buy a car from a garage that has sold a bodged car, there are other dealers who sell good cars.

i appreciate they are selling this as IS, and are NOT saying its perfect

but i imagine you can get better for the same money on ebay or on this forum but i am no expert. car dealers are in business and therefore need to make money so like you im sure they didnt pay 2k for it

The car is priced at less than trade value. I doubt they are making much on it, if anything. I don't think you could buy that in an auction any cheaper and you'd have the fees to pay on top. Cheap car IMO.

maybe this is one of the few genuine 'almost too good to be true'

hope a forum memeber gets it then

Look at it as £2000 worth of parts preassembled.

If it turns out to be a decent runner it's an absolute bargain, if it's a shed, there's £2000 worth of parts.

You'd be worried by a problem said to have been experienced by an unknown person on the internet an unknown number of years ago

You mean without such a comment you'd have assumed you were dealing with Mother Teresa?

We're taking about used car dealers here and an 11 year old car going cheap

Edit: I don't mean there might not be 1000 other reasons to be worried lol

i would never buy a car from a dealer anyway, its just the way i am, i may be wrong (it wouldnt be the first time) but i think as long as you do your research i think you will get a cheaper car privately, its not like your gonna get a waranty worth anything from a dealer, i mean even if he has bodged it, he has probably done a goiod enough job to last the 3 month period anyway.

but when i do use traders i always go by personal experiences, and if this guy had a bodged car (his words not mine) then i would look elsewher

let me give you an example

i just had some alloys refurbed several months ago, i know i got a cheap job as it was a cash job and that was my fault but just coz you agree a lower price with cash doesnt mean you want a lesser job, its not like i went in there said " look mate i want these to look **** when you have finished how will that cost me" i asked what is the cheapest you can do. but he messed them up a little (more than i was happy with) but i didnt have a leg to stand on because it was cash.

i would not recommend him to anyone i knew, would you use him?

I think you would be very hard pushed to find a similar car for less. If i had a spare 2K I would be tempted to buy it and just keep it till March/April. You take a chance on any car in that price range, and as others have said , its below trade price.
