I have two problems which on first instance seemed unrelated until I re-read the manual...
1) My interior lights will not go off automatically when the door closes, though come on OK on opening the door. I have to manually turn them off. Which is not that convenient if I have just left the car of course!
2) The central locking button on the dashboard will not lock the doors though it will unlock them and both positions on the switch work as I can use it to set and unset the "automatically lock the doors when moving" feature.
It struck me the other day that both of these would happen if one of the doors was actually still open.
So I am guessing that somehow the car thinks one or all of the the doors are still open?
I have visually checked each of the four door pins (E200 Estate) and they seem to retract and spring back in an acceptable manner, so no obvious mechanical failure; maybe a loose connection somewhere.
Anyway I can check this premis without taking it in to a workshop? Does it sound like a feasible reason for the problems?
