Hi again.. Last night on the way home from work my car developed another problem.. Going uphill it changed down and then lost all it's power and speed. When it changed back up it would be ok except for very slow on acceleration. At low speeds all is ok as long as you don't try to suddenly accelerate because at which point it looses all its power again. Got home to find the car has a missfire too, rang the garage this morning where i got the car from and they said bring it back to them, only problem being they are 30 miles away. They told me it would be safe to drive like this, are they correct? Don't want to cause any damage to my engine : )

MY GUESS , AND ITS ONLY A GUESS?? Failure of one of your ignition coils or the part of the Engine ECU that powers it. If its a coil rather than the ECU driving it 30 miles like that might cause the ECU to fail which is much more expensive to sort.

better to be safe than sorry.

Get it recovered.

Ok cheers people, that's what I was thinking.. Garage I bought it from forgot to post off the warranty paperwork so I'm trying to get it into a Bosch service centre 5 mins down the road and get the bill forwarded to the garage

This could be a coil pack, HT lead or soemthing as simple as the MAF sensor.

Just had a phone call from the garage and they have cleared a few faults (didn't tell me what) but said there is still a problem that they are having trouble finding. Apparently it's not "firing on all banks above 3000rpm, but fine below that." Could anyone give that to me in english please? Garage not being very forthcoming with information

Still coil pack or MAF at a guess.
