I was quoted £2200 for S class tier 1 warranty which I thought is on the high side. Car is serviced annually by MB. If the warranty is in the region of £1300, I would not hesitate to take up. But £2000+ am I wasting money as warranty does not cover wear and tear? Are you allow to leave a gap in between warranty with valid MB service done?

Wheel bearing. Does any problem relate to wheel bearing cover by warranty?

Part of the service, I had oil and filter change. When I tested using the dip stick, it came out black. Is this normal? Or is it a case of mechanics forgot to change?

Put the money away to have it ready when (if) needed.
I'd be thinking alongside the same lines, around £1k I can swallow, but £2200 is taking a mickey.

If your car is out of warranty and you intend to keep it, perhaps this an opportune time to re-assess your servicing provision as well. A good independent should save you money on servicing too.

If the warranty is any good, the first thing it should tell you is what's not covered. For 2.2k, S-Class or not I'd be very surprised that a wheel bearing isn't covered.

Hi, have another check of your warranty docs, or perhaps the Tier 1 changes with different models. Tier 1 on my CL 600 cost a tad over a grand. Covers wear and tear.
As for dirty oil after a change, if you have an oil burner it does not take long to get dirty.

You had me worried so I just got a quote for mine (expires August) and the quote was £1250 for Tier 1 or £1100 for Tier 2. That's for a 2010 C63 Estate with 31k miles.

Tier 1 doubles in price when you pass 60k miles.

Perhaps illustrates Mercedes touching faith in the quality of their product.

Das Beste oder nichts, aber nach 60 tausend Meilen ist Kaput! as ol Gottlieb might have said.
