Quicky

which was known first.

1/Phone Call

2/A neighbour told dad that there were two men looking at the building at about half past twelve last night...

It funny how we do not notice things unless we look.

Phone call , neighbour came in and mentioned it mid morning ...

Does your alarm system have a memory of last alarms triggered ? If no alarms registered, then its very odd !

Are you saying in your first post that you suspect that somebody may have had reason to break in and use the phone for a specific purpose ?

Yes, we believe so ...

Well there's your answer then ! Would they be smart enough to pick the locks and disarm / re-arm the alarm ? A dialled number showing up on the device could only have been dialed by somebody physically pressing the digits. As has been said, if the phoneline was interfered with, there would be no trace on the device itself.

Im lost!!! Not least by a burglar who may have broken into your office only to dial a freephone number!!! Nothing I've read makes any sense, apart from you and all of us being paranoid probably about nothing.

Its ghosts man, Howard's Dad will be on telly next week saying that if he had not seen it himself.

Ho ho ho ....

I won't go into it too much, but there are reasons to suspect that someone may be 'listening in' :(

Now you tell us Howard. Google have probably provided the IP addresses of eveyone that searched for that secret number to MI5/6/whoever and right now they are monitoring our activity to see if we know something we shouldn't. Thanks a bunch!

;)
sorry, i know it's not funny

Donkeys .....

I'm serious ....

You have to ask for it, but we get our BT phone bill on cd-rom that updates our billing software (from BT) on the PC. This really helps us keep an eye on who's making what calls and when.

Maybe Howard or his Dad did it in their sleep! You hear all sorts about this type of thing.:D

I love the title of this thread... the only thing quick about this mystery is how fast this thread is growing!

Try and be serious for a while chaps .....

I'll be the first to have a giggle at anything but we really need to resolve this .....

And no, none of us drink , we aren't conspiracy theorists, nutters, terrorists, paranoid maniacs , crime lords etc etc ....

OT - but once when i was unemployed i went to sign on  and in 'previous jobs' i wrote 'crime lord' and 'rocket scientist' , no one batted an eyelid ...... :o

Ok so were down to
1) someone was actually in there dialling the numbers.
2) The phone dialled itself.

In either case why dont you ring BT from another phone, they MAY tell you more about it.

If 1) then you have to figure out who may have got hold of the keys.. e.g. is there a cleaner or someone who has a copy. Who knows the alarm codes..

There has to be a simple explanation. Unless there is a good chance of some serious threat to you or your familys safety, its not worth getting paranoid over otherwise it will be very difficult to resolve...

Howard, follow the physical line back to the socket and to where it leads outside, looks for taps, adaptors that werent there before...

Camp out in the office every night for the next x years, to see if you can catch the ghost....

I was going to speculate on how daft you have to be to spend 25 seconds on the phone befoire you realise the number you dialled is dead; but I won't, cos whoever it was outwitted Howard and his dad....;)
