Can anyone point me in the right direction to locate front wings for a R129 please, oe quality, but not MB, they won't give me a mortgage at my age ;)

Can't be of much help I'm afraid, but have you priced them up at MB? Always worth asking if they can offer any discount. Some do.

Here's a link to one body panel specialist, although I don't know what the quality is like and they don't list the R129 model, but worth asking them. Replacement body panels Professional Body Panels Carz2 Ltd

Hopefully someone with a knowledge of these things will be along to help.

i really wouldnt touch patent parts with a bargepole they are weak and never fit right also you will be having the same problem in a few years when they rot through.
best bet on a budget is phone around specialist mercedes breakers and source the best rust free dent free wings they have and properly rust proof the prone areas before re-fitting.

With all due respect, you obviously haven't bought any non genuine panels recently, your statement would have been true some years ago, but now most panels are as good a fit as OE, in the last two years I've purchased two new wings for my 124 coupé and they fitted perfectly right out of the box the gaps on wing to bonnet and wing to doors great, and the best part......

they were £24 and change each!

thats fair enough.i have an old school guy who restores my cars so im only going from his experiences(40 years in the trade) but personally im an oem stickler as i often sell my car's once ive had a bit of fun so genuine is a must to get the right money imo.
i think theyre is a company called wunderpartz and i have heard very good reports about the panels they supply being top notch oem quality so they mabe worth a try

The simple fact of the matter is there's no consistency with pattern parts ,I put 2 on front of 1 of my customers mb only last wk ,o/s door -wing gap good but wing- bonnet poor ,the n/s virtually fell on without a problem ,truth be told I'd avoid them if I could find genuine at a reasonable price on my own car but what you pay for is what u get 9 times out of 10 someone that knows what they are doing can fettle them to fit ,if they are prepared properly they won't rust any quicker than genuine ,I put a non gen on my dads 124 in 2005 and it's still not showing rust unlike the rest if his car lol but I put a whole bottle of stonechip in the inside of it before painting and after paint it dripped waxoyl for a month I put so much on ,they are far thinner gauge of metal too this will be obvious if you pick up your cars original wing in 1 hand and pattern wing in other ,also many insurance company's insist on repairers using pattern parts on cars over 3 years old be it mercedes ,BMW,Audi they DNt care and repairers have no choice but to spend extra time making these panels look and last aswell as a genuine 1

Thank you for your replies gentlemen, sadly though I have not been able to find any on uk t'internet sites, although our cousins over the pond have no such problem. so it's either repair or replace with MB OE.

For the benefit of anyone reading this now (ie. 2023), I just bought a pair of brand new R129 wings from Mercedes for £474.30 each, that’s £1138.32 for the pair including VAT.
Beware of EBay; just saw a pair of wings, second hand (scratched, bent and corroded), on offer for £800.00

2 have two pairs of rust free wings here in Texas that i'd quite be quite happy to sell to anyone who can figure out how to get them to the UK. For that matter, I will have rust free everything because that's how we roll in Texas.
