Sorry in advance for the long winded post :D

I have managed to secure a passengers door in silver for my SL - however it is a later model door and I have a prefacelift car
I know for a fact that the basic shell is the same and windows etc will fit and I will be able to get it shut, locked and watertight. The outer trim panel fits no problem at all.

Does anyone know for SURE if the interior door cards will fit as I have been told catagorically that they will and they wont!
One person is telling me that he has physically fitted a late door to an early car and it wasnt a problem . Someone else is equally adamant they are different on the inside and the door card wont fit.
The EPC appears to tell me there is only one passengers door listed - however there is also appears to be a chassis number limitation

I knw what everyone is thinking - why dont you just try it :D
Unfortunately I cant get the passengers door open until I get it to the bodyshop as its going to require the use of a crowbar to get it open and then it may not close again.

Basically I don't really want to be forced into looking for an early door in a hurry because the bodyshop will need it to get the 1/4 panel spot on.

Any help or advice greatfully received

The early part number seems to supercede onto the later number, other than the airbag and the speakers how different can they be?

I have known three people who have fitted the later trim to the early doors and it all fitted easily.

I think it's more the internal door trim that has the question mark over it.

I've got a late door here off a 51 plate car and an early one off a K plate, and the interior trims from them too, so if I get a chance tommorow I'll see if they swap over ok...

Sorry I meant door panels with the different swithes

Thanks Nick

Either way it looks like you get the sale for the external claddings - It would just be nice not to have to buy a door if I dont need to :)

the question mark would appear to be if the seat switches/speakers and internal door card all fit :)
