This is the only one of these I've ever seen with a V8 - even in V6 form they're quite rare. I'm almost tempted!

I often work in the area where Classic Chrome is located, so I may pop in to have a look at it, but don't worry, I don't have the £'s to buy it, so I won't be in the running if you are thinking of buying it. Looks very nice.

Anti roll bar when it is up (like in the pic) does not do the R129 any justice and spoils the look just like drivng with the windows up but roof down.

I also don't like the wind defelector's cosmetic appearance from behind when in traffic as I have seen a couple of R129s with this option.

I wouldn't buy a car from them anyway - I made that mistake once before .

It is lovely though.

All R129s came with a wind deflector - they're essential on the motorway - I quite like the look of them up:

that is a rare SL500 .. I saw one without the panoramic roof a couple of years ago.

mystic blue on the 129 is lovely, as are the black seats with small silver dots.

what was the mistake with classic chrome?

A blown-in and patched up R107 that was supposedly - 'restored'. The jacking points collapsed on use and revealed the quality of their work.

That is nice, i though that the designo mystic blue edt was only avaiable as SL320's and that they were in germany as 500's.... is really nice, though i think i will stick with my 320 for the time being

ahh forgot to add, mine is exactly the same but the 320 model.... i feel common now lol....i dont like seeing the same car as mine, is why i went for the mystic blue... should have seen my face when i saw one near where i live..... and then when i was in a neighbouring town... not happy....
its nice to be individual

IIRC the Designo Almandine and Alanite cars were restricted to V6 versions being released at the same time as the V8 Silver Arrow- the Mystic Blue version could be ordered with any engine. The only thing I don't like about them is the blue soft-top.

mystic blue is a lovely colour, and personally I think the blue soft top looks great as well

I must say I agree. I looked at the SL Pagodas that they had a few years ago. Their pricing was optimistic to say the least, and even to my untrained eye, the quality of their cars really not very good.

I think it works beautifully with the paintwork

i think with blue soft tops it shows age more, and is harder to keep in an original state due to shades of blue...
black is black so it dont really matter too much...
my blue top was a denim blue through exessive use had to re dye it

true-black will always last longer.
I've never understood people who buy cabs with a light colour hood - seemed popular on XK8s and some MGFs!! The hoods just look dirty and rubbish within 12 months..........
I had a very nice saab 9-3 blue with blue hood and sand leather before I bought my first SL. I thought it was the greatest car ever, until the first time I drove the merc.
