R230 SL no cruise control- stuck in speedtronic

The cruise stalk on my recently acquired R230 SL500 won't allow me to engage cc, however the speedtronic limiter is working. When trying to engage cc the LIM light remains illuminated and won't turn off.

Does anybody know of this issue?

Are you pressing the stalk to engage cc?
CC is always enabled so pressing the stalk enables lim.
with the lim light off, cc is enabled

Hi Ted, yes tried pressing stalk in but lim light won't turn off
